Read the good reviews, so my wife and I went there for lunch with an elderly American friend. No one was around as we entered. So we went in, selected a table and plonked ourselves. After waiting a few minutes and no one in sight, I decided to go out to see if anyone was around when I saw one of the staff members coming in with used cutlery from the outside seating section. To his credit, the young man was really patient and friendly 👍😀. Even up for a few lessons from our elderly friend about maple syrup 😂. Now the food. The pork burger was good, not great 😑. The fries were not too bad, but thinly cut fries don't go well with a burger for me. My wife had the waffle with salmon and scrambled eggs. Not too bad, she said. Our friend liked her waffle with honey. My favourite was the White Rabbit dark ale. Chilled just right. And you cannot go wrong with a Bundaberg ginger beer. So mixed feelings really. For almost the entire time that we were no service crew was around in the air-conditioned seating area. They were all positioned outside. In fact, several minutes after we finished eating and chatting, I went out again to ask where we could pay as by then we had decided to go elsewhere for coffee and cake. For a new place that is trying to find its feet I found this all a bit odd, even careless. Plenty of potential, but we didn't benefit from it. For the prices we were paying things needed to be great, not just ok. They weren't unfortunately. All a bit cold and...
Read moreThis place had very high ratings but unfortunately this was not my experience this morning. Came for breakfast with family and right off the bat things didn't turn out well. For a place with 'Melbourne' in its name their coffee (had Flat White and Cappucino) were very disappointing. There was hardly any coffee flavour, it mostly tasted of milk. It didn't get any better. The sourdough with cheese, egg and bacon looked so slap dash that I could've done a better job myself at home. Sourdough slice looked stale, cheese looked like a plain Kraft slice. The Big Breakfast cost almost RM50 but came with just 2 slices of plain Massimo bread... for this price I would expect much better than this. Rocket leaves in the salad were so not fresh that many were yellowish and some even had dots on them. We told them this and they were happy to replace it but we were on a rush so declined. I sincerely hope our experience is a one-off but I will not be a...
Read moreWe walk past the Melbourne Cartel each morning and decided to stop and have a morning coffee not expecting it to be as smooth and creamy with just the right strength coffee to complete this delicious beverage made by owner Zac. Since then we've had quite a few coffees, teas, crepes and tonight for dinner we decided on 2 delicious Burgers, Smoked Duck salad as a side dish a couple of beers (they also sell a few Australian beers) and finished off with coffee and a shared Matcha waffle dessert 🍨. Owners and staff are lovely, friendly people so do yourself a favour go enjoy the...
