A lesser known Roti Canai place located slightly outside than the Georgetown prime area which is favoured more by the locals than the outsiders in relative to the well-known Roti Canai establishments (Roti Canai Argyll, Transfer Road, Gemas and etc).
In terms of food offerings, the stall is famous for their Roti Canai Sarang Burung, Roti Canai served together with either chicken, beef or mutton drenched with sambal and curries, and Roti Bakar with half boiled eggs. Personally for myself, i opted for Roti Canai Set Daging which comes together with fried egg on top.
While the appearance of the food may look unappealing to some however, when the curries, the sweetness from the sambal, the eggs and the soft roti’s are all mixed/ combined together, all of it just make sense and complement each elements well.
The order doesn’t take long to be served and the staffs were pretty attentive to get/accomodate your order hence, these are the least things to be concerned or worried about if you’re considering to dine in/ do a takeaway at the place.
In terms of locating the place, it can be somewhat challenging for the outsiders or people who’re not familiar with the way of navigating to the place as, the stall kiosk facade is slightly hidden from the main road’ view as well as, limited proper parking spot available around the stall’ area. Hence, do plan your journey accordingly if you’re planning to visit the place.
Meanwhile in the context of ambiance , do not expect much as the stall is located near to the drainages hence, if you’re very much concerned on the cleanliness of the place, prolly you could find better place elsewhere for similar food offerings without constantly worrying on the issue of hygiene and cleanliness of the eatery place imho.
All in all, it’s still worthy of being considered as the place that you could probably visit that serves good roti canai in Penang despite several setbacks as mentioned.
Like people always say; “if you never...
Read moreThis is one of the good roti canai that is frequented by locals. The ordering process is simple. Just walk up to the anne (brother) and he will take your order. Serving speed was quick. I got my teh tarik within 2 minutes, and roti canai within the next 2 minutes. Despite on a Monday morning it was almost full house.
Roti canai is nice and fluffy, the dhal and sambal gravy was very good. And I enjoy eating the pickled onions. The teh tarik on the other hand wasn't thick (concentrated) enough. It tasted more milk than the tea. Despite kurang Manis (less sweetened), it is still too sweet to my liking.
Overall this is a nice roti canai joint, very reasonably priced as well. Parking is almost impossible, either you take motorcycle here or you park...
