This is a full service restaurant befitting its refined ambience, soft music, delicious food and drinks, fine tea sets and assorted blended teas that are available for sale. So far the service level have been attentive and good. My pick of the menu based on healthy choices are Lamb Shank, Rosemary Baked Chicken, Creamy Butter Lemon Fish, Grilled Fish in Capers Sauce, Grilled Salmon in Capers Sauce and Aglio Olio Seafood Spaghetti. The Lamb Shank is tender so it peels easily.Served hot, the scent of its stew(which reminds me of chicken pie) wafts into the air.
Rosemary Baked Chicken is tender and can easily be cut. You might want to go easy on the citrus sauce if you're not into fruity tangy sauces.
Mexican Grilled Chicken makes a fine choice. The sauce is tomato based with just a hint of spice.
If you like your chicken fried, order a Honey Oat Chicken. Despite its name, it isn't sweet. So diabetic diners are safe from sudden sugar spikes.
Creamy Butter Lemon Fish is the ideal battered fish, crispy outside, moist inside and easily sliced. Grilled Fish in Capers Sauce is a mildly flavoured healthy dish. A premium version of a similar style dish is Grilled Salmon in Capers Sauce. There is a significant price difference. Vegetables and potatoes portion remain the same.
The Aglio Olio Seafood Spaghetti is well executed with a fine balance of smoothness and seafood portions.
Just one caution, don't order the Black Pepper Lamb Shoulder for the meat is too tough for the knife to carve!! Apart from that, feel free to order whatever you please.
For seafood I normally prefer Marinara, yet for Winter Warmers their Aglio Olio Seafood Spaghetti is a winner. For hot tea served in fine tea cups and pots, go for Jasmine Paradise, Midnight Roses, Peach Green Tea , Darjeeling Black Tea or Assam Black Tea.
For cold teas, served in a glass pots and champagne style glass, I recommend Iced Mixed Tea which goes with fruit slices and a cherry, Iced Berry Berry with apple cubes or the Iced Peach Tea that comes with natta de coco cubes. Some seats are next to power points so that is added convenience to me.
If you like hot milk tea, the first choice ought to be Assam Milk Tea. It is served without sugar. My second choice is Royal Milk Tea without sugar. For Royal Milk Tea, this no sugar option must be clearly specified else sugar will be mixed inside prior to serving.
If you prefer coffee I recommend the Hot Cappuccino...
Read moreI am Winter Warmer member. I've been visited Winter Warmers Gurney plaza many times and this is the first time I visited Winter Warmers Queensbay due to full house in almost all restaurants on Christmas day. This is what I observed.
The food was very disappointing. It’s our first time here at the Queensbay outlet and let’s just say we won’t be coming here any time soon.
When our drinks came, the coffee was very average and the iced chocolate tasted like water. The rose and gunpowder tea was average too. We ordered a side dish which was nacho cheese and it came out burnt plus the sauce tasted purely from a can.
Next is the main dishes, the chicken Alfredo cheese baked looked good but when you dig in, it tasted like chicken stock since the ginger was overpowered, they used frozen veggies and the sauce was watery. The fruity lemongrass salmon was overcooked but the sauce is good. Not worth the price since it was about RM40. The Capers Sauce Grilled Salmon was so so since the salmon is also overcooked. For the avocado sandwich, the bread tasted like stale bread.
Desserts were average too since we ordered the fruity green waffle which was hard to eat while the blueberry cheese felt cheap because they didn’t use actual cream cheese. It tastes very similar to the tatura cream cheese mixed with condensed milk.
The waiters were very unfriendly since they didn’t interact much and had frowns on their faces.
If I could summarize this review it would be edible but in a sense where it’s fancy and isn’t worth your money. Very dissatisfied since it’s our first time here and we expected...
