Tucked away in Bukit Indah, Padi Kopitiam offers a range of familiar local fare in a casual, old-school setting. My recent visit was a mixed bag—nothing to rave about, but not without its charm either.
The standout, at least conceptually, was the fried banana with chili prawn paste sauce. It’s not a pairing you see every day, and I appreciated the creativity. The balance of sweet and savory had potential, but unfortunately, the crust fell short—lacking that much-needed crunch to elevate the experience.
The mee siam with fried chicken came in a generously sized portion, and both components were decent. The mee siam had that slightly tangy, comforting flavor, while the fried chicken was crisp enough, though not particularly memorable.
The biggest letdown was the prawn crackers, which arrived limp and lifeless—likely victims of being pre-fried and left out too long. When a snack is meant to be light and crisp, serving it cold does it no favors.
Service was brisk, and prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. Overall, Padi Kopitiam feels like the kind of place that thrives on familiarity rather than finesse. If you’re in the area and craving a fuss-free local bite, it’ll do the job—but don’t expect...
Read moreThe desserts & snacks served here will give me a reason to come back to this place. I love how the egg tarts size was just nice so you don't feel overwhelmed or queasy and it tasted really good! The banana fritters or 'pisang goreng' was the highlight! So crispy, crunchy and sweet paired with sauce 😋 We bought the banana cake back for breakfast the next morning and boyyyy regrets for not getting enough! Sorry no photos of it..all in my tummy already! Chwee Kueh was decent, cannot be compared to Singapore's. But for the mains, we had the Sarawak Kolo Mee which coming from Sarawak my two cents required huge improvement.. the noodles were overcooked and bland, Mee Jawa portion was huge (can share by 2) and taste was decent. Sis in law had the fried tomyam laoshufen which she said had enough wok hei and tasted good. So yeah no harm have a try when...
Read moreThe fried hokkien noodle is the worst I've ever had, blant & tasteless plus the portion is small for RM16!!
Ordered add-on fried chicken but it took forever to come after I almost finished my main dish & reminded the waiter to check. Again, the fried chicken is tasteless & it's super dry.
My wife ordered prawn noodle & the soup is not flavourful at all. My daughter ordered Kolo Mee but ran out of Wanton soup so early before 12 noon. Many food are not available too like the Mee Rebus.
Overall, very poor management (should order more raw ingredients especially over the weekend) & lousy food even if their menu has a lot of varieties. As the saying goes, you maybe Jack of all trades but master of none. Furthermore their price is not cheap too.
Avoid here if you want to enjoy...
