半份五常大米 Wuchang Half White Rice = RM1.60
I'm very amused that most Google Reviewers were giving Very High Praises for their Plain White Rice of all things. I'll be very honest and say that I felt it didn't smell or taste any different from a Regular Normal Jasmine White Rice. I have no idea why it is being so Highly Praised in Google Reviews of this place. Different Strokes for Different Folks I guess.
小李酸菜鱼 Signature Fish 1-2 pax (Non-Oil, Less Spicy, Thick Slices) = RM58.00 (Original Price is RM78.00)
This was a Really Large and Wide Plate when it was served up! It also has a Somewhat Smokey Aroma. There are a Total of 19 pieces of Thick Cut Slices all cut in General Uniform Bite Sized Pieces.
One thing that slightly disappointed me was the Appearance of the Actual Dish. In the Menu it had a Very Vibrant Yellow Glow, but the Actual Dish has a More Earthy Duller Milky Look accentuated by the Green from the Saurkraut it has. The Picture in the Menu also suggests there are Pieces of Squid within, but the Actual Dish only has Fish and Sauerkraut.
Quality of the Soup
The First Taste of the Soup was an Elevated Intense Mix of Savoury, Sourish and Saltiness of Saurkraut 酸菜. Not at all Milky despite its Milky Look. Not a bad tasting soup, but because of this Elevated Level of Sourness, I feel this is a Soup that is not meant to Drink Dry.
The Least Spicy Variation still has a Slightly Mild Spicy Heat. Its not the Very Spicy Stabbing Pain type of Spicy, but more like a Spicy Warmth in your Throat. There is nothing Mala about this.
The Veggie Component within the Soup
There are alot of 酸菜 and they gave a Nice Veggie Crunch. They are Sourish but not Overly So. There are also some pieces of Radish Slices. Their Alternate Soft and Slightly Crunchy Textures worked together and did not clash.
The Fish Pieces within the Soup
No idea what type of Fish is used, but they have a Nice Soft somewhat Velveted Bite Texture, but also not so soft that they completely Flake and Crumble when you pick them up. All of them were also Boneless.
Not Fishy at all, also Not Salty, they have a Very Clean Savoury Taste especially accentuated with that 酸菜 Soup Broth. Very Easy to eat, they slide smoothly down my throat with every bite.
The Quality of Fish is not bad. And I liked that there are so many pieces of them for me to enjoy. I never once felt any sort of "Fishy Jelakness" even after eating so many pieces.
Every Component in this Dish carried their own weight and did their individual job well to elevate the Whole Dish together in Perfect Harmony. Nothing in here tried to Outdo and Outperform to Clash the Dish. Very Nice.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
Other than the somewhat lackluster look of the Actual Dish compared to the Photo on the Menu, the Overall Dish was well made and taste not bad. I'm impressed with the 19 Pieces of Fish. Amount felt Generous and the Fish Quality themselves are Very Decent.
I have no issues with either the Overall Dining Environment, Service Level or the Taste of the Dishes.
Would I try this again if they no longer have their RM58.00 Lunch Discount in the Future? Probably not. Because the Original Price of RM78.00 (S$24.00) feels a Tad Expensive. RM58.00 (S$18.00) feels like a More Acceptable Sweet Spot for me.

Read moreHave been dining at your Tebrau City almost every 2 weeks when I visits Malaysia. Me and my family love your dishes especially the signature 酸菜鱼.
About 1 month back when me and partner (2pax) came for dinner, we ordered the 3-4 pax 酸菜鱼 as we thought the 1-2 pax is not enough for us. But when it was served, we were shocked at the quantity for 3-4 pax serving! It's as though we were served the 1-2 pax serving instead. The rice portion also decrease significantly for a full bowl. We made a feedback to the manager and we were informed that the supplier was changed for the fish slices used for the 酸菜鱼. We are not concerned whether the fish slices are thinner. It's about the quantity of it. The serving portion doesn't seems right.
Now 1 month later, we decided to give it another shot. Today dinner was frustrating and really bad. We just started eating and my partner suddenly pulled a hair out his mouth after taking a bite of the fish slice from the 酸菜鱼!! If you suspect foul play from us, please go check your in house camera. This is UTTERLY DISGUSTING!! How could this happened when apparently from the way your restaurant presented itself, you seems to placed alot of importance on cleanliness? We feedback to your staff immediately and you staff offered to change the whole dish of 酸菜鱼.
Here is an interesting question. What could the restaurant have done after such a disgusting thing had happened? Changing the dish and apologising is only the basic thing to do. We specially waited till it was closing time before we feedback to the manager. The best part of this is that your manager seems to not know about this hair finding incident happened. So back to my question on what else could have been done? No discount was offered upon settlement of the bill. It was only offered after we feedback to the manager after clearly asking what kind of customer service is this. Not even a dessert was offered, the manager told us that just because the restaurant have offered to change the dish and that is the end of story.
We can afford to pay the full price, but it doesn't make sense to the restaurant to offer any discount or even desserts to pacify customers? This is not a simple feedback on the quantity, this is already a hygiene issue.
People. Use the same amount of money and go to 海底捞, you get much...

Great food, great music, great vibes! This place knows how to make dining both flavorful and enjoyable. Lee’s Signature Fish – Their Sichuan-style fish was the star of the night. We requested slightly thicker slices, and it was cooked to perfection—tender yet firm. The broth was rich and layered with flavor, enhanced by smooth beancurd, preserved vegetables, and sliced radish. Honestly, it outshone even Tai’er’s version! Green Chili Pepper Fried Iberico Pork – Tasty, but a little too heavily marinated with pepper for our liking. Xiang Xiang’s version still has the edge. Stir-Fried Cabbage – Simple yet superb! The heat stove kept the cabbage warm and crunchy throughout, making it a delightful side.
Overall, it was a truly satisfying meal, and we left very pleased. Thank you, Chef, for the wonderful dishes!
⸻ Update (25 April 2025): Returned with friends because I love the food here. While I still enjoyed the meal, it wasn’t quite as perfect this time, and I experienced some stomach discomfort afterward. Hoping it was just an off day, because this spot still has a lot...
