After 10+ years, they have moved back to where they started the business. Some taste has changed some, still have that lil bit of soul left. Food to try are the Lala Soup (short neck clam) with ample of finely chopped garlic and a lil ginger to taste. Still have that soul, another to try was the Hot Pot Chicken or Sapoh Chicken, this, has lost its soul abit, from the owner, he uses 5 sauce to get that umami taste, however I find this trip, abit lacking but still a die die must try dish, note, both dish is NOT CHEAP.
The Lok lok is similar to others, some they will add in pepper so just look for the portion and come early for fresher oil. I use to love lok lok but when age catching up, need to control my fried and oily intake.
Overall 7/10 there are many that are better nowadays. Those days, this shop ranked #1 and nobody ranked #2. Many new lok lok now has their own batter and salt/pepper/spice to touch up before serving.
Another to try is the aluminium foiled spicy chicken, however this trip, the chicken is not fresh, however the level of spicyness still has all its soul, I have to challenge anyone to try one without sweating and drinking water. I will buy you a large meal if you pass. So far, I have put up the challenge over 50 victims, nobody every...
Read moreI was brought here by the locals. This place is famous for dinner and supper. They have a vast array of lok Lok. From meat to vegetables to innards. You can also choose something hot from the kitchen. It's interesting to have such a wide selection of skewers. After you have finished choosing, hand over to the frying counter. By default those food on the skewers will be deep fried. It was my first time there, didn't know there was a boil counter and also grilling station there as well. You just have to specify your desired preparation method.
I also tried their spicy soup and lala soup. The lala soup is great, the soup is sweet and has the very nice seafood and gingery taste. All the lala has succulent and springy flesh.
The spicy soup has a gingery and peppery taste but the spiciness actually comes from the bird eye chilly. It was hot sitting outdoor, and with this spicy soup I sweat like crazy.
It gets very crowded at night, parking is limited during peak dinner...
Read moreHorrible service, reach there but nobody serve us seats. Staff see us queuing and waiting but ignore. People reach later than us went in and snatch the empty seats first. Are we supposed to find seats ourselves or wait for staff to serve us?? Nobody guide us. When confront, they never say anything but give us bad face. In the end we need to split table with others and split bill??
Wait one and half hour for 2 plate of loklok but only one plate come. When ask where is the other plate they couldn’t find and just tell us gone?? Completely waste of time with no apologetic at all. Still can ask us to retake and choose new plate of loklok but there is no ingredients there!!
Only lala soup is good but service the worst. Won’t ever go...
