There are car park lots located in front of the restaurant which are reserved for diners. I went on a Sat night and the restaurant wasn’t crowded. There were pieces of used serviettes on the floor. The restaurant did not look very clean. An unpleasant smell of the 臭豆腐 sold by a road side stall wafted into the restaurant. Fortunately, the smell went away.
The service was slightly above average. My local friend called to make an appointment on my behalf and also ordered the right dishes for me. The food was amazing. Every dish was nice. The young female staff offered to change our plates when she saw that it was full. She initiated and asked if we would like to change our plate to a bigger one.
Salted Egg Crab with Roe I asked for extra gravy which the staff obliged. The sauce had dimension with bite size egg roe in it. My friend who was with me commented that the sauce was made from real salted egg instead of ready made sauce. We liked the texture. The crab was fresh with plenty of meat. Thumb up !
Butter Cereal Crayfish The flesh of the crayfish was succulent and fresh. The fried cereal was delish and very fragrant. We polished up almost every grain of cereal. Thumb up !
Steamed Putin Fish I think this is a Putin Fish. My friend, who was a JB food expert, advised me to order the size slightly below 1 kg so that it was breed in the wild and Nor from a farm. Wild caught Putin Fish will not have a fishy taste. I was served one at 1.1kg but the fish did not come with a fishy taste at all. The meat was tender and very fresh. The fatty fish stomach area was delightful. I enjoyed the simple taste of steamed Putin Fish with a touch of light soya sauce , shredded ginger with bits of fried chopped garlic. Thumb up !
Mee Tai Mak Soup It was one of my favourite dishes. The soup was umami and it was a simple dish. The 才鱼片 added a hearty and wholesome flavour to the simple soup. I savoured every drop of the soup. Thumb up !
Seafood Porridge It was another simple but umami dish. I like the Mee Tai Mak Soup better than the seafood porridge. Quite good.
They gave us a compliment plate of fried ice cream which was a great ending to a satisfying dinner.
My friend commented that Ba Wang Crab served better food than the more popular Yi Jia Seafood even though they have a lower rating on Google Map Review. I will dine at Ba Wang Crab again when I want to...

Read moreCame here for dinner with 2 pax. Ordered the butter crayfish 1 kg (120 RM), drunken prawns small (50 RM), and hot plate oyster egg small (30 RM), and 2 rice. I have to say that I enjoyed all the dishes very much. The crayfish was fried with the tasty crumbs which go very well with the rice. We had 4 large crayfish so each of us had 4 halves. There was plenty of meat in the crayfish. The fried crayfish pairs very well with the herbal drunken prawn soup which was incredibly refreshing. It was also quite sweet and the prawns were fresh. However, they did not remove the intestine when cooking but they did cut the shell in half so it was easy to deshell without using your hands. Last but not least, the hot plate oyster egg had a generous portion of oysters that tasted fresh. Only complaint is that there was very little egg, only a thin layer on the hot plate. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would definitely come again to try different flavours of the crayfish as well as other dishes. Would want to try the salted egg...
