JB Guesthouse — Hotel in Johor

I have stayed here several times during the last few years - my longest stay being around 5 weeks. The accommodation is clean,secure,comfortable and well furnished with ensuite shower and toilet. Rooms are large with aircon and fan plus a bar fridge.Two of the rooms have small balconies. There is wireless in the rooms or a PC available for the free use of guests. There is also a washing machine (plus iron and ironing board). The resident maid is very helpful and always available to assist. If driving, the Guest house has space for one car to be parked securely and safely off the street .||||The Guest House is located just 15 minutes by taxi to the Customs Checkpoint leading to the causeway and Singapore. There are plenty of eateries and a wide choice of food (of varying quality) on the doorstep. The guesthouse is very clean and in a safe & quiet but scruffy street (typical of the area) just a few minutes walk from shops,a major supermarket and foot reflexologists galore - including the biggest and newest reflexology place in Malaysia (open 24 hours). ||||There is an excellent 24 hour cafe (with wireless) that serves quality food and drinks - plus several good restaurants.There are always uniformed security guards providing a good visible presence while patrolling the shopping precinct / mall in the main street. Basic street cuisine and hawker food is in abundance. Just a 5 minute stroll past the right side of the giant 'Store' Supermarket towards a small bridge is an excellent tropical style bar with a live Trio (excellent guitarist and singers) performing after 9pm and...

Ok, this place is not luxurious, but it's as close as you'll get for 40 - 50RM per night. There's not that much to see in JB, but if you're shocked by prices in Singapore and can handle a commute this would make a great alternative. Otherwise, if you're travelling around Malaysia and want a break from the budget hotels with used sheets and towels, stay here.||||Rates vary from 40-50RM.||Sheets are changed after EVERY check-in (it's NOT standard practice to do this at budget inns in Malaysia).||I had my own bathroom and balcony (could have had bathroom and kitchen instead).||Huge bed, tv, large room and very clean.||Free wifi and broadband.||About 10minutes by bus from the centre of JB, but near a supermarket and good shopping area.||Secure house.||I'll be staying here again before leaving...

We recently stayed 1 night at the JB Guest House. It's about 10-15 mins outside of JB and took us just over 30 mins by bus from JB Sentral bus stn.||||The info provided by the owner was perfect and we arrived at the accomodation without any trouble. We used public transport but a taxi would have been much quicker. ||||The room was basic but large and had everything we needed and was clean. The shower was nice and hot. The wifi worked a treat. ||||There are a number of places to eat within a 2-5 min walk. As this is a residential area it gives you a taste of Malaysian life ||||We would recommend this to those on a budget not minding a trip...
