Donkey and I were in JB, and before we headed back home, Donkey decided to go for a bike wash. He chose to come to Pelangi for a bike wash because it's near the Pelangi Shopping Centre. While washing his bike, he could kill some time by having lunch and a good massage in the nearby vicinity. We stumbled upon Del's Kitchen while we were at Pelangi Shopping Centre, and we were served by Priya. She mentioned she's from Kuala Lumpur, and she speaks fluent English. Donkey and I asked her for recommendations of good and famous dishes at Del's Kitchen.
Priya recommended the Laksa Johor, saying it's a unique laksa that not many places serve. We took her recommendation and ordered it. The laksa truly is unique. When it was served, it didn't have much gravy, and it had a mild taste of asam laksa and a hint of mee rebus. It's like a laksa infused with mee rebus and asam laksa, the taste is quite unique. After adding lime, we also ordered the Ayam Penyet and the Cucur Ikan Bilis, both recommended by Priya. The Ayam Penyet was delicious, and the Cucur Ikan Bilis was nice and still hot when dipped into the chili sauce. We paired our meal with a Mocha Hot and a Hot Hazelnut Latte.
The place is nicely decorated, vibrant, and very cozy. The prices are reasonable. However, one thing to note is that most of the staff here do not really understand English. You may find it hard to converse with them if you don't know Malay. Luckily, we met Priya, who is fluent with English and provided us with great service and recommendations.
Overall, we had a great experience at Del's Kitchen. The food was delicious, the staff were helpful (especially Priya), and the atmosphere was pleasant. If you're looking for a budget-friendly and tasty lunch in Mount Austin, Del's Kitchen is definitely worth a try. As not all staff are able to converse in English, we will rate this...

Read moreThe interior is adorned with warm lighting, wooden beams, and rattan lamps, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The setup includes a small bakery counter showcasing various desserts, with neatly arranged seating that suits small groups and families. I ordered the butter chicken served with rice. This dish is served exclusively with chicken breast. If you prefer other parts of the chicken, it’s best to avoid ordering this. The portion of chicken and gravy is quite generous and flavorful. However, it seems to have been cooked with MSG, as it leaves you feeling thirsty after some time. The menu selection is not particularly exciting, but the coffee is aromatic and enjoyable. They also offer several types of kueh, which, while not listed on the menu, can be selected directly from the display counter, paid for, and enjoyed...
