We had wanted to enter Meng's Kitchen restaurant, which was just next door to it when one of us spotted pig's knuckle and wanted to try it immediately. The owner personally welcomed us in and showed us a table for 5. Instead of ordering his speciality, we took on a different direction to test his food which he claimed was equally worth mentioning. We took a medium dish of pork knuckle instead of a big one. Ordered his "Ang-chor fish head (Red Snapper fish head) curry Fried Lettuce and Choy-tam. The dishes are okay, not salty or oily. The fish head lacked "Oomph" because the coconut milk was lacking and the spices not fragrant enough to bring out the kick in the dish. But we have credit the very generous amount of tahu-pok, cabbage, long beans, ladies finger and brinjals which the owner added to an otherwise small fish head to be served to 5 people. The pork knuckle was soft but the side dish of preserved vegetables were missing, which meant the actual full taste of it was not completed nor complemented. Overall price was very reasonable but we wouldn't shout loud about it or think of returning as we had tasted Thailand's pork knuckle rice and stubbornly would always make unfair comparisons with it whenever we chance upon restaurants in Malaysia trying to...

We ordered the signature Long Jiang pork knuckle rice and braised pork rice, lettuce, and homemade pickles cucumber.
Price is close to the expensive side.
For Long Jiang pork knuckle rice. The fat part or the skin of the pork will melt when put in mouth but the meat part feels dry. The vegetable just boiled with water and doesn't has any taste. The braised egg feels dried as no more braised source on it, all absorbed by the rice as they put it on top of the rice. The picked vegetable a bit salty, wasn't tasty at all.
For the braised pork rice, only has dried skinny meat which is without the melt in the mouth pork skin.
For the homemade pickles cucumber, do not order! We only had one, it's salty, sour, and the color shows that it has been pickled for a long time.
Lettuce was fine. Nothing special.
Staff there was friendly, but not really communicating well. Asked for chilli giving us...
Read moreWe were looking for a place to have dinner, and we came across this place on google maps with high reviews, so we decided to check it out.
Overall, the food was great. We were quite surprised by the eggs on the hot tocks dish, but it turned out surprisinly nice, as the eggs were fried nicely. The only thing was that the eggs could have been flipped a little later so that a nice crust could be formed at the bottom.
The pork trotter was delicious and nicely braised. Our only issue was that the serving size for the M size was a bit small for the price.
The soup of the day was rdish soup, and it was amazing ! It was really thick and full of flavour.
The Hakka style fried chicken was also really good, it was crispy with a strong prawn paste taste.
Last of all, the place also had 2 chili sauces, both of which we really enjoyed. We could tell the sauces were...
