We were visiting the Pelangi morning market (Every Monday and Thursday) and were looking for a breakfast place when we chance upon this cafe. We were aware of its more polished counterpart besides KSL but hadn’t tried the food yet.

This outlet looked decent enough. Clean and modern with lots of old school fitting to remind their customers of their heritage.

We had the ban mee with soup and wanton mee. Both were surprisingly great. Portions were generous. Lots of sauce to coat the wanton noodles. The sauce was great too.

The broth of the ban mee was less salty, the way I like it. Didn’t taste as rich as the ban mee broth at Roast&Coffee but good enough. The blanched egg was a tad over cooked though. The ban mee also came in decent portions with a generous serving of crispy Ikan bilis topping!

I should be returning to give their bread toast a try in...

I have to say that although the food wasn't bad, the service was lacking. I noticed that the staff's attitude could use some improvement, and they could benefit from additional training in taking and preparing orders.

I feel that the quality of service provided does not match the pricing of the food. While I understand that quality service comes at a cost, customers should not feel like they are paying more than what they receive.

On the bright side, the atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, and the air conditioning made for a comfortable dining experience.

Overall, while I appreciate the effort that boss can puts into creating a nice atmosphere, I believe that there is room for improvement when it comes to their staff's attitude and training together with the taste...

Greed and a need to "make things right" are the reasons why I came here (after a slightly disappointing bak ku teh across the road).

The peanut and butter 太空包 was just a tad sweet, maybe some condensed milk was added. It was OK.

As for the coffee ☕️, specifically kopi c kosong, was also sweet despite having no sugar, so it's indeed the milk they use.

The (inner) dining environment was cool and pleasant in today's heat, and the place was pretty vibrant for the 2pm slot (on a Monday), and this is despite a fairly average Google Map rating. Presume these are the regulars who are here for their "comfort food".

Note for myself: Maybe it's worth checking out the "main" items the next time in...

Avoid being swayed by influencer marketing campaigns for this restaurant. The food and service were disappointing; they took 10 minutes to inform me a dish was unavailable and 20 minutes to serve a drink. The Hoon Kueh Soup tasted like something you'd get in a hospital—bland and with kueh so mushy it stuck together. The steamed pandan kaya bread was worse than what you can get at a local coffeeshop. The black wonton noodles were just oily with no redeeming qualities. If you enjoy trash food and have all the time in the world, feel free to visit them. And they have the tendency of removing negative reviews on their store too
