Overhyped on tiktok and instagram. Restaurant was clean and well kept. Good atmosphere and decorations for a "hypebeast" hangout. However, the food unfortunately didn't live up to that. We ordered the lobster roll, burgers, loaded nachos and fries.
Lobster roll 142RM/41SGD: well seasoned, but bits of shell and cartilage still remained. The roll was oversaturated with butter and every bite caused so much of it to flow out. Very gelat and the taste of the butter just overwhelmed everything.
Burgers 26.70RM/7.70SGD: we ordered the lazy monday signature burger. The fillings and toppings were abundant and at least flavourful. Patty was medium done and seasoned decently. The bun, if it was brioche, was heavy and dense. Was not well toasted and made us feel full very quickly.
Loaded nachos 55.60RM/16.11SGD: Good toppings like your usual peppers, tomatoes, jalapenos. But cheap brisket meat cuts filled with lots of fat and no smoky flavour. Thought it would just be SAVOURY melted cheese, not a heavy dose of sweet bbq sauce with sweet cheese sauce till the chips were all soggy and mushy.
Chilli Cheesy beef brisket fries 45.90RM/13.30SGD: Each of us tried a fry from this and decided not to touch it afterwards. This item was soaked in so much chilli sauce and covered in chilli flakes that it felt like we were drinking mala sauce. It was oozing out of the box as well. Doesn't look like how it's shown in the menu at all. If you want chilli soup and potatoes, buy this.
In summary, an overhyped hypebeast restaurant that overcharges mediocre food. The quality of the dishes was definitely not worth the high price set for them. When leaving, our Grab driver told us he knew that we didn't enjoy the food as most locals never return. Vibes were decent but the food was not even close. Just seems like a place to smoke sisha and drink. Wouldn't recommend at all.
Edit in response to the owner's reply: It seems you are very defensive when it comes to feedback, especially when it's negative in form. Your response to a slightly detailed review of your food is pretty immature, especially the last paragraph. We came in here expecting good food. We liked the vibes your establishment had and your staff were on the ball with things.
I personally got a burger and the lobster roll happy to pay the amount you guys set. Budget is not the issue here, it's the quality you put out. Your quality is not worth the price you set. You stated you MAY change or recook, shouldn't it be we WILL? And it seems you can give as quoted "better" food. Why not serve that standard in the first place?
We were definitely happy with the portions and were well fed. Just that in the case of the chilli cheesy beef fries, it was totally misrepresented when comparing to your menu and looked unappetising. Therefore, we did not continue eating it.
As a fnb business, you should be able to take feedback whether it is in person or online in a proper manner. I understand other reviews before us giving you low ratings seemed rude and harsh. But your replies should still be professional, not immature and ignorant. Not a good look for you....
ย ย ย Read moreMOM HQ is called Lazy Monday on the Grab App. Even so, the Grabby dropped me 2 roads away. Sigh... If not for Google Maps, I would have given up and missed what had eventually turned out to be a wonderful burger experience. What MOM HQ is offering and serving at this joint is not fast food, but proper cuisine. ๐
Having tried most commercial and gourmet burgers in KL, I didn't have high hopes for the burgers at MOM HQ. By the time I finished with the MOM HQ burgers, I was aptly given the surprise slap of the year (or maybe two), and I am graciously humbled! ๐
Aussie Burger (MYR 65)
Although the Aussie Burger tasted great, it wasn't 100% perfect. Nicely constructed like an artisanal skyscraper, the taste of the Aussie Burger sent me to burger heaven. The smashed beef patty and the pastrami or beef bacon sandwiched between the bread (not buns) were all perfectly cooked, and tasted quite beefy and juicy, nothing like those usually sweet and locally spiced patties (nasty) that one would get from other Malaysian burger joints. The cheddar and homemade sauces smacked within moved the overall taste experience up a couple of notches, and made the entire ensemble visually appetising. ๐๐๐
Because the meat was sandwiched between 2 slices of thin, airy and extremely oily grilled bread, in my opinion, the Aussie Burger should really be called an Aussie Sandwich instead. ๐ค Apart from the grilled bread crust, there was no textural bite to the bread, which had become unpalatable and mushy. The bread had probably soaked up the juices of the meat, and the oils from the meat, cheddar and sauces.
Nestled down by a toothpick on the top of the grilled bread were a sad-looking small slice of brisket (too dry for my liking, which I thought also tasted slightly off, but too late to complain, I had already gobbled it down) and a half sliced baby gherkin from the jar. They made what would be a boring looking dish look gourmet and scrumptious. Kudos to that!
Fantastic lightly salted (potato) fries on the side, with a good crisp on the outside of the fries and a moist cushiony inside -- most definitely not store-bought. It also came with 2 tubs of tasty Sriracha-based mayo and BBQ dipping sauces to complete the whole works. ๐๐
Unfortunately, if I hit MOM HQ again for my next burger fix when back in JB, I would not order this again.
Monday Signature Special Burger (MYR 36.90)
This is definitely a m**f of a BURGER (pardon me but I have to swear out of excitement), and a MASSIVE one too! Apart from what could be 2 perfectly cooked meat patties, this burger is married with thin fried onion rings, relish and God knows what else is inside. ๐
I bought this burger as a takeaway item. Moment back at my service apartment, I took a bite in order to write this review. I have nothing more to say other than to give MOM HQ a knee on floor kowtow. Seriously! ๐๐๐๐๐
To the chefs and others hustling and in the kitchen -- a big thank you, and keep up the good work!
I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK AGAIN to try the other items on the menu,...
ย ย ย Read moreGood burger hangout spot, we ordered 2 burgers and 2 drinks. One burger was the classic big cheese, the beef was juicy, tender and smoky making it off to an excellent start. Brioche buns were fluffy and slightly crisp at the same time. Sauce was good overall. For the other burger we ordered the Winconsin burger, the chicken was crispy and well fried and the sauce was creamy and impactful. Fun fact my dad usually doesnโt fancy western food but this time round he said the Winconsin burger was not bad! Fries for the burger side were seasoned just nice. Drinks which were the strawberry and pomegranate Barbican(non-alcoholic) malt beer were thirst quenching and unique in its own way. Ambience overall was a chill and it was a good vibe/ hangout place. Portion was generous. If you are a small eater try to share one burger with your friends or family when there. Live band on that day was nice. Even though he was Malay he sang Chinese and other languages songs to be inclusive. Not only that, he sang it well also. One thing I donโt like about this place is there are many vapers and they rent out hookahโs for people to smokeโฆ However I will close one eye on that and I will still return to feast on the burgers again. Overall price including tax and service charges is rm96.15. Hope the owner replies, I saw how he bashed those one star comments, donโt need to be so harsh on them I feel๐คฃ
Sending love and peace from Singapore, Cheers.
Edited reply: Hi there really appreciate that you actually read my review and listened to my request and dedicated your time in replying to my review. Thank you so much ๐.
