Been wanting to visit this place for a long time finally made the effort to visit on a weekend lunchtime. The exterior looks very grand and the cafe was actually quite big spanning a few floors. Was glad it was crowded but we got a table immediately without any waiting time. This place is really a place for me because from the entrance you can actually take a stroll to see the pastries available all the way to the cashier. Good for the sweet tooth folks but there are some pastries which are savoury and worth trying as well. Had a look at the menu, pretty extensive as well with quite a lot of options, but we decided not to order too many things from the menu as we wanted to pick from the pastries as well. They were having a matcha series drinks so we ordered 2 matcha drinks, and the chick n waffle. Then we ordered the smoked duck croissant, Nutella banana puffet and the baked cheese crown. The drinks were not bad, one of the drinks we ordered had passionfruit and was very fizzy. The chick n waffles was not bad, though we expected the waffles to be better, it wasn't on the crispy side and was more dense. The pastries were good. Enjoyed the duck croissant with pineapple. The Nutella banana puffet was loaded with Nutella, and the one we loved the most was the cheese crown. The pastry was so crispy and the cheese so light and creamy. A definite recommendation for people who want to try sweet pastries. The staff didn't get our order for the cheese crown initially and we had to remind her again. The place was quite spacious with 2 floors and 3rd floor is a function room for events. Prices pretty reasonable. Worth checking this place out. There's just too many pastries but no stomach...
Read morePresentation: 4.5/5 Service: 3/5 Taste: 2/5 I really wanted to give better rate but despite reading lots of great review on it me and my family didn't really like the taste of food from here. The Mini Seasalt Oreo Cream Cake that we bought was dry and hard as though it has been in the fridge for days, the Matcha Croissant pastry was bitter but the matcha cream itself was ok, same goes with the cruffins that we bought as a take away (we bought milk tea if i remember correctly and salted egg), the pastry was bitter but the cream was not bad. The Coco Nutty Smoothie that we ordered was as per the photo was alright. Unfortunately, we didn't finish any of the food :(
The drinks that we ordered a passionfruit sparkling drink and matcha pandan was delicious.
The reason why I gave 3/5 for service is due to one incident that happen with the lady who attended to my order. I told her that i wanted some cakes to go but it came to my table, seems there has been a miscommunication but when i informed her nicely that i want it to go and not dine in, she was pretty defensive and said "I asked you which table and you said you having it here". I had to just reply with a "sorry, maybe it was my mistake?" as I didn't want to ruin my day and cause a scene. The cake that I wanted to takeaway was taken away from my table and placed on top of the display area which I then had to tell the staff a housefly was flying around it and if they could cover it or keep it in a box it would be more hygienic.
An instagrammable shop but with the experience I had with my family, I don't think I...
Read moreThe last time we were here was back in 2019 (pre-Covid) for Christmas Eve dinner as well.
Three (3) years later, we are here again for Christmas Eve dinner too. I notice there are a few changes: -
In 2019, the dinner sets were more luxurious and sumptuous with lobster set as a choice. 2022 dinner sets are quite a letdown with mainly chicken or fish.
In 2019, the processing speed and overall service were excellent. The staff seems to know the needs of the customers. In 2022, the staff seems unsure what has been served and what has not. We even had chocolate cake as dessert right after the soup even before our appetizer and main course!
In 2019, we had reserved our table earlier and it seems that the staff had organised our table spot with our names written on it indicating that a reservation had taken place. In 2022, making a reservation or no reservation doesn't seem to make any difference as we are seated randomly.
In 2019, when we made our reservation, no deposit is required. In 2022, we have to place a deposit before reservation can be made. We do not mind paying the deposit, but we are about to settle our bills, the cashier doesn't know that we had paid our deposit earlier and she had to look for the deposit record cluelessly. When we asked her, 'shouldn't she know that the deposit has been made for reservation?'. She answered that not everyone needs to place a deposit making us uncomfortable on double standard policy.
Overall, in the 2022 dining experience, it was very bad and uncomfortable. We hope for more improvement in the...
