Was greedy and wanted to 'sample' an additional meal and found this place a stone throw away from the 'ah peng bak ku teh'.
Ordering was via qr code, but payment at cashier via cash or e-wallet only (ie. No debit/ credit card/ pay wave).
If you are not familiar, which I was, I didn't know what 'black' or 'white' meant when it came to the noodle option, but I went with 'black' - I assumed it was the soy sauce, I selected thin noodles, also added a 'fried egg' and no spring onions to my 'curry chicken noodles'. The customization options via the ordering system were quite thorough :)
Ok, first bite, loved it. The curry was on point, and it's such a great combo with the 'black' wanton noodles, it was like 2 dishes in 1. You get the wanton noodles, the curry noodles and the combination of them both!
But when I got to the chicken itself, it was a let down. The chicken was dry, and felt/ tasted like frozen chicken. I don't blame anyone using frozen chicken, but maybe if the processing/ cooking were properly controlled, the frozen chickens' properties could be managed.
Else it could...
Read moreWanton mee here is really good indeed.
Came here for breakfast as recommended for their wanton mee. The egg noodles were springy and the black sauce perfect with it.
Ordered the curry laksa, dry prawn wanton and fried wanton. Curry laksa gravy really fragrant and not overly thick. Lots of ingredients in it including tau pok, siham, pork belly slices, bean sprouts, fried fishball and char siew slices. Other than the char siew, the rest of the ingredients were good. Dry prawn wanton drenched in a black and spicy sauce(can choose spicy level) were superb. Prawn very plump and with minced pork as well. Must order. Fried wantons were love as well. Crispy and sizeable compared to many places.
For drinks we had Iced Milo C and Iced Hor Kar Sai. Drinks were fantastic, well-made. Thick and tasty. I'll probably order less sweet in future.
Staff were friendly and service great. They even provide a basket for your bags to be placed in.
Order is via QR code pasted on the tables. Payment either by E-wallet or Cash.
Food is good and dining experience here wonderful....
Read moreEnjoyed dining here so much so we craved it for days afterwards!
We ordered the char siew and shredded chicken wonton mee (black) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Pictured is the medium size (rm9.90 iirc) for both bowls. I think it is very worth it for what you get and the noodles have the perfect springy texture. I would definitely ask for more of that delicious chili next time though!
Not pictured: kaya butter toast that we had for dessert. The best I’ve had in jb and one of the best overall! The toast was very crunchy and fluffy with a generous 3 slabs of butter (unique and super yum). We liked that they didn’t skimp on the kaya as well so you can clearly taste both kaya and butter.
The fried wanton and fried fish fillets were free when you subscribe to their whatsapp and xiaohongshu channels which is such an incentive and a treat, really elevating the whole experience.
Environment wise I wouldn’t say is pretty comfortable and cooling with fans and aircon too iirc.
Can’t wait...
