I ordered Hanoian Style Grilled Pork - Bún chả ( I only wanted the pork patty, not pork belly). Everything was nice except the pork patty was not cooked all the way through.
I said its raw because when i cut the patty, there's great different from the outside edge with seared brown burnt marks and inside (pink pink color and soft texture). 1st: i asked a waiter to recook since the patty is still raw. They simply reheated in a microwave or sthing I'm not sure, the bowl of soup and patty was hot but cannot cook through patty. 2nd: i questioned a waitress whether pork patty on this restaurant is supposed to be pink uncooked inside like this or not. He went inside, came back after 5mins discussing with the cook and confirmed that the pork patty here is supposed to be served with that color :) and kept quiet when i mentioned what if experience food poisoning after eating this.
They suggested to cancel this order if I want to. And yes, I canceled because this was the 1st time I, a VNese having dinner in an authentic Vietnam food restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, heard that grilled pork patty is supposed to be "medium rare" like beef steak 🥲 I gave 2 stars not because of the way they cooked my food, but the way they solved this problem was extremely poor unprofessional, lack of effort from staff, and consequently I feel their expectations...
Read moreWould usually go for the pho or lemongrass pork/chicken when dining Vietnamese but decided to try this instead. Dry Hu Tieu Rice Noodles with Pork.
The dish came with thin rice noodles doused with a mild, slightly sweet and salty sauce which tasted great to me. It was not overly salty nor overpowering. The minced pork topping was also mildly seasoned and tasted just right. I have always preferred thin noodles and they were great to me.
There was a broth accompanying the dish - with a generous amount of pork. About 3 pork balls, two pieces of ribs, slices of pork belly and a handful of onions and coriander.
The broth was very sweet tasting and I can't stop slurping. It is more flavourful compared to pho broth, something similar Bun Cha's broth.
Ribs were tender, fall off the bone and not dry, pork belly not too fatty with good amount of lean meat and the pork balls don't taste overly processed.
Overall a great dish and could be on my list of to order when I am back.
P/S: the fried spring roll was an add on and does not come...
Read moreThis brand been around for some time and I only review now because my recent visit to SV outlet was pleasant. The new manager/supervisor (didn’t get his name) managed to stop/change the black-overfried food ordered before it was served.
As a big fan of Huế food as well, the new limited menu is a must-try. Both the new food and drinks remind me of Vietnam. However, it also appears that the kitchen staff here didn’t realise that the steamed rice cake needs to be steamed first before serving; the supervisor/manager quickly rectified it and made the dining experience much more better.
However, the classic menu remain a 3/5 because over the years, the herbs for pho is getting lesser to a point where it’s not being offered anymore. It’s rather frustrating to order delivery (from this outlet too) because the herbs are always out of stock (when AEON BIG is beside...
