I had a very disappointing and frankly unsafe experience at Ban Tianyao Grill Fish. Our table was awkwardly placed, protruding into the main lane where hot, boiling pots were constantly being carried by staff. It felt dangerous from the start.
What made things worse was the repeated carelessness of the waitstaff. Right behind my chair: The first time, a waiter spilled chili powder — no harm done, but it was already alarming. The second time, a large pot of steaming hot rice was spilled. Luckily, I wasn’t seated at the moment, but some of the rice fell under my chair. The third time, they spilled a used bowl of hotpot with chili oil, again right behind me.
This repeated clumsiness made me feel genuinely unsafe. We requested a seat change and flagged it to the manager, who laughed it off and casually asked a waiter to move us. The waiter didn’t help at all — he just moved the hot pot to the new table and walked away, expecting us to carry the rest of our things ourselves.
To top it all off, they changed our order (egg tofu strips were replaced with white cabbage) without asking or even informing us. The floor was sticky, and the entire place felt chaotic and unhygienic.
I rarely leave reviews, but this was unacceptable. I won’t be returning, and I would not recommend this...
Read moreSurprisingly good food here. Now they have promotions, RM20 discounts for the whole fish.
They have good individual sets as well, RM19.90. and it comes with a full tilapia fillet. And you can refill the soup as many time as you want.
Add in RM2 for unlimited drinks, Japanese Pearl White Rice, White Fungus Soup, ice creams, and condiments.
Tried the garlic and the old pot style, both very suits me. The old pot style is like the salted vege taste abit. You can basically tune the taste to your liking with the many condiments there. Have a good fun time out there and enjoy.
Oh yeah, bring kids there, they can basically fill themselves out with ice cream, and drinks, and you can just chuck them aside to play phone while you have a good time enjoying with the adults.
Only think can be better, is the place can be cooler, then...
Read moreThis was my second time dining here. The restaurant serves pre-made fish, so some items might be out of stock occasionally.
The decor is simple but clean and bright, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The fish is boneless and tender, and the signature green pepper flavor is excellent. However, the garlic flavor I tried before didn’t sit well with me.
For a single-person lunch at 25 MYR, you get fish, unlimited drinks, watermelon, rice, sauces, and silver ear soup, which makes it a great value. One thing to note: remember to ask the staff to add broth to the pot—they sometimes do it proactively, but other times they don’t.
Also, their opening time is 11 AM, not 10 AM as listed on Google.
Overall, it’s a place worth visiting...
