Boy do I have a review for this place. My colleagues and I decided to have a change of environment today and have a meeting over breakfast. You can never go wrong with toast and half boiled eggs, a common and favourite Malaysian breakfast. Or so we thought... Turns out a lot of things can go wrong.
First of all, everything was ordered in a set. Unanimously we all ordered some form of coffee to go with the breakfast sets we ordered. I was the only one who ordered Kopi O whilst the other ordered theirs with milk. Mine came in diluted, whilst the others' was swapped to Tea without any notice. We asked thinking we got the wrong order, but turns out the staff had decided they could swap it out anyways cuz they ran out of coffee without even notifying us. (Imagine that, a kopitiam that ran out of Kopi). That's fine, we understood and we let it slide.
Then the food came. The roti "Bakar" was lightly toasted and was clearly left there for a long period of time before serving. It might as well not had been toasted. Even this we let slide because it makes sense if it had to be left there while waiting for the half boiled eggs to be done.
Then we all cracked open our eggs, and low and behold, barely even half cooked. There was more raw then there was Cooked whites. AMAH graciously offered to swap it out for a new batch. But it came again, still as uncooked as before. The picture portrayed is the 3rd switch, which was still not even cooked properly! I mean if there wasn't an issue with raw eggs then it's fine, but this is a health hazard. So not only have they garnered unhappy customers on a Monday morning, they've wasted eggs in a time where inflation is a rising issue. And Ali, Muthu and Ah Hock is not cheap.
You don't even deserve the minimum 1 star required for this review.
Disappointed at this experience. Never coming again, and I'd advise anyone else to be aware of this kind of quality in a restaurant.
Disgraceful to our food...
Read moreWent there for early lunch today. We arrived at around 11:50 a.m., just before the lunch crowd came in and the cafe was about 1/3 full. My husband's nasi lemak came quickly but the ayam goreng berempah was cold and not crispy at all. It was not up to the raves we heard about. My Nyonya laksa never came and since my husband had already finished his food and tea, we decided to cancel order. No big issue, it has happened before in other places.
However, a server told us that we weren't allowed to cancel order. I was surprised and asked her to clarify in case I misunderstood what she was saying. She insisted for the second time that we weren't allowed to cancel orders here. Her face was serious so I assumed that she wasn't joking. As she was starting to sound ridiculous(I mean it was the first time in my life that I heard customers weren't allowed to cancel their orders. Are we supposed to sit there and wait till the cows come home? Lol), we went to talk to the manager. She cancelled it for us immediately.
Firstly, poorly trained staff with zero customer service. They tried to clear my husband's plate while we were still eating. Secondly, poorly trained staff for not cancelling orders as per request. No apologies whatsoever. If she didn't know what to do, she should've asked the manager to come over. Thirdly, the food was cold and probably cooked at least 1 hour beforehand. Not worth it. 1 star for the teh tarik, cute and clean ambience(though a tad noisy) and free parking for the first 2 hours if you spend more than RM 20. No photos because, well, my food...
Read moreThe ambience is fine, similar to other Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock branches. However, this specific outlet in The Sphere is not maintaining a consistent quality of food. I have always loved the nasi lemak but this time, it tasted as if it was almost spoiled. The ayam goreng is not fresh, a lot of blood-taste within the meat although it tasted crispy outside. Maybe it was reheated multiple times when they served it. I was disappointed as I have high expectations since all this while, I have always loved AMAH dishes. I noticed that none of the employees are local, they are all foreigners including the managers, they understand zero Malay. The teh ais was not up to standard as well. I suggest that AMAH have a standard approach of outlet management such as at least assigning a local as the manager. Foreigners would never understand what good nasi lemak tastes like. I don't think the employees were given proper training as well because when I asked for plain water, she gave us the mineral water so when the bill came, the 500 ml mineral water cost RM3.60 when there was a plain water of RM0.50 on the menu. These are simple things in Malaysia but of course the foreigner would not be familiar. That outlet has lost the local touch that AMAH has instilled. I went home disappointed instead of being happy with how the nasi lemak should have tasted. 3 star for this outlet. Other...
