Bad Service

Unlike Mid Valley branch, the staff here are arrogant, unhelpful and disappointing. I visited on Monday evening around 5.40pm. The restaurant aren't busy. Only few table are occupied. Nobody approach us until I called the waitress. A Filipino waitress came to take our order and when I asked whether they have milk tea, she rolled her eyes and said, "we only have tea bag so I would serve you milk on the side" with sarcastic tone. I just nods and I add in their big breakfast in my order. After a while, when our order arrive, I was trying to arrange the table as I wanted to take an Instagram picture, and this Filipino waitress tried to dis-arrange the table. I was like "wth". But I just ignore it and rearrange the table again the way I want it. Later on, once we've finished I called the waitress to bring us the bills, so I make the payment with debit card unfortunately she came back and said their card machine is not working. So I waited for a while, in my thoughts their machine might be interrupted as it was raining heavily that evening. Later the waitress offered to try the card again then she said I should key in my pin-number but I was confused, the machine did not mentioned key in your digit as we usually see. So I asked her and she could not even explain. I guess she don't even know how to operate that card machine and makes me look like an idiot don't even know how to use a card. That is embarrassing. Finally, I asked her to try the pay wave then it works. I wasn't happy at all. I really hate restaurant that I have to pay service charge but I get the worst service. Definitely never come...

Read good reviews on google and decided to try it as they have a kids play area. Service is really good and friendly. Very accommodating and attentive.

Play area worked extremely well for us and kept the two kids well occupied throughout meal time. However, it probably cannot fit more than 4 kids at a time as it’s really small and enclosed.

Now for the food. English breakfast dish was good! Scrambled eggs and baked beans were yummy!

Hawaiian pizza with spaghetti was also great! Looks however is messy... as you’d imagine spaghetti scattered all over! Crust was nicely thin and crispy. A hit with the kids and adults!

Cod fish and chips was disappointing. Fish was dry, not as you’d expect from cod fish. Fries could’ve been cooked better as some were soggy.

Biggest let down was the Vietnamese fried noodles. Poor attempt at fried noodles and has no resemblance to any Vietnamese dishes that I’ve known... just for reference, I’m a foodie and frequent traveler to Vietnam and been to all the cities. Skip at all cause!

Salad was okay as were the sweet potato wedges so not worth any additional mention.

Lemon sour cake was okay as they heated it up.

Coffee in my opinion was good! Like your typically good coffees you get in Melbourne or Sydney! But skip the Vietnamese coffee. It was alright but they should really just focus on the western fare and do it really good.

My verdict: Come for their breakfast dishes with eggs. Coffee is also great (skip the Vietnamese coffee)! And a plus would be the play area if not over crowded. The service is also something I appreciate a lot!

Lovely all-day breakfast place! The food is great, the coffees are fantastic and the cakes and pastries are really, really good. How could one place have all this and not succeed?

Don't expect to park in front of the shop or nearby. You're better off parking at the nearby Bangsar Village 2 and walking over.

Antipodean Bangsar is an institution in itself. Still remaining the same size all these years, the comfortable indoor seating beckons you to sit inside away from the sweltering heat outdoors. But if you choose to, there are tables outside as well.

There are no menus, but you can scan for it on the QR code placed on the table. Or, you can also see the entire menu on the blackboard prominently displayed. In fact, this blackboard is the signature decor for all Antipodeans, no matter where.

The food is Western, with many choices to choose from. The popular Big Breakfast and All Day Breakfast is available along with many other items as well including bagels and other choice breads and pastries.

The food at Antipodean has never disappointed, and that speaks a lot.

Having survived for many, many years now, Antipodean has grown from strength to strength since opening it's first shop. Now available in 4 locations around the Klang Valley, one in Johor, and also in Indonesia and Phillipines, it only goes to prove that good food can go anywhere, and people will know...
