This restaurant served Sichuan dishes, with distinct mala flavor. Someone called it an 'expensive' self-service China chap fun (mixed rice) shop. Here the dishes are precooked and served in individual bowls. There is quite a spread of spicy and non spicy dishes. Their signature dishes are food and ambience Boneless Spicy Chicken, Shredded Cabbage, Twice-Cooked Pork with Sichuan Flavor, and Spicy Shredded Potatoes (which tasted sourish). There are tang tong (steamed soup), sourish fish, mala fish, mapo taufu, beef dishes and many more. Each dish is for a single serving. The price range from RM3.00 or more for a vegetable dish to RM12 or less for a meat dish. The also served noodles like min fan kuih. The customer needs to go to the counter, select the dish/es that the like they like and add on rice or noodle and pay at counter. The restaurant also provide free drink (plain water) and soup. The place is air conditioned, bright and clean. I think the price will depends on the type of dishes one order. My family had a variety of 6 dishes with rice and the total bill is less than RM80, you can't get that variety for that price at a Sichuan restaurant. For one person, a vegetable and a meat dish with rice would probably cost between RM15 to RM20. Quite reasonable for...
Read moreThis restaurant is quite ok, I generally enjoy coming here. Unfortunately, my son doesn’t like it very much. Could it be that the food here is more suited for an older generation🤣? Some dishes from China, like 酸辣土豆丝, 辣子鸡, 麻婆豆腐, etc. I don’t think Malaysians are very accustomed to these flavors. Although 辣子鸡 seems to be one of the best selling dishes, I saw one or two tables with almost half a portion left when they finished eating. However, dishes like 糖醋鱼片, 干蒸肉饼, 梅菜扣肉, etc, suit our tastes better. From the photo you can see I almost take the same dishes for myself, every time dining here. Although this place is called "百味", they don’t seem to have a wide variety of dishes available. The prices are reasonable. Overall, visiting once or twice every month is fine. Most of the time, I have to drag my son to come along; otherwise, we might only visit once or twice a year. I hope they listen to customers' opinions: They really need to provide more local-taste dishes. M'sians are very particular about...
Read moreWent on Friday, a day after their soft launch & it was super crowded.
Food portions are incredibly small & prices are unaffordable. Spent a total of RM83 for a number of tiny small dishes. Considering the area has a lot of students, this restaurant is doomed to fail & close as students are the main customer base. (Many stores have failed in the exact same lot & it wont be a surprise if this store fails due to high prices & small portions)
Taste wise, it's decent but some dishes such as sweet & sour pork do not have the sauce which makes it dry. Overall 70% of the dishes are lacking in flavour.
Nothing special about the atmosphere & customer service. The cashier was able to speak in English which is impressive hence the 3 stars.
Overall, a 3/10 from my siblings, grandparents & me. High prices & tiny portions, even my GRANDPARENTS were still hungry & we went to KFC afterwards. You'll have a better experience eating at the...
