The famous Common Man Coffee Roasters from Singapore has an offshoot outlet in the popular TTDI area now. It's not exactly new per se, but I took my own sweet time to actually write about them. Coffee is always my thing and I never leave any cafes that are nearby my territory unexplored.
Located on the ground floor of Plaza VADS, parking in this area is a b*tch but there's an option to park in the basement parking of this building. The atmosphere in this cafe is very lovely and dynamic - service was fast and attentive too!
◾fluffy brioche French toast with berry compote, maple syrup and premium vanilla ice cream. To see my daughter eating in such fast manner (mind you that she's usually very slow) was a testament on how good this dish was - I love the ice cream upon scooping a small spoon to try. ◾common Man full breakfast - this huge plate came with 2 free range organic eggs in any style (I chose poached), chicken Spanish sausage, grilled streaky beef (changed to smoked ham), cconfit cherry tomatoes, Portobello mushroom, baked beans, vegetable rosti & minted sour cream with one artisanal sourdough bread. Extra grilled halloumi cheese at RM12. ◾grilled juicy "chilly" boneless chicken with crushed avocado salsa & caramelised lemon ◾Sliced chicken Mac n' Cheese topped with parmesan and mozzarella cheese, sweet Spanish onion and crispy pita chips on the side ◾sauteed kale & egg white scramble with asparagus, sweet peas, spinach and broccoli.. topped with shaved parmesan and lemon zest crumbs ◾expect good quality coffee served - both Cappuccino and latte that we ordered provided caffeine fix for us.
Everyone agreed that the price of their food is on the high side despite the quality. However judging from the strong crowd on Saturday morning, I believe that some really do not mind paying price...

Another #brunchspot that we loved!
Been here twice and enjoyed the food! Here’s what we tried!
Eggs Benedict: probably one of the best hollandaise that I have had, soft toasted English muffins that still had a crunch, with perfectly poached and runny eggs. This originally comes with beef but you can swap it to chicken
Fish burger: golden fried panko breaded fish patty, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with burst of tartar sauce and salad. This comes with fries (guilty 🥲)
Chilli chicken - grilled chicken breast with avocado, sweet potato mash and burnt lemon and harissa. A healthy meal with a balance of proteins and carbs!
Okinawa black tiramisu - this is a MUST ORDER dish! The kinako powder (roasted soya bean powder) that gives a mild heat and the toasted sourdough crumbs gives a contrast texture to the smooth tiramisu that has a strong sweet and bitter flavour from the black sugar sauce. You almost feel like you’re eating a healthy dessert (as if that’s even possible 😅)
☕️ their coffees are some of the best that we have, they also sell their own signature specialty coffee blends.
The wait time for your food is about 15 mins and the people are absolutely friendly and helpful. The quantity of food is also a lot, so we usually buy a main and share, just so we have room for dessert (some strategy huh? 😆)
Definitely a good meal after a weekend hike or a morning workout! Can’t wait to go back to try more dishes (specially the decedent chocolate cake and their banana cake that’s...
Read moreWe ordered 2 food items and 2 drinks; 1 orange cake, 1 granola bowl of some sort, a coffee and 1 fresh orange juice.
As far as we were aware, there was no mention of an ice cream/sherbet sort of thing for the granola bowl. What was supposed to be a healthy bowl felt less so due to the sherbet. It also tasted.... interesting but not necessarily in a good way but let's chalk that down to I not preferring such flavours. The orange cake on the other hand was disappointing in many ways. It was very dark on the surface (possibly due to over-baking), relatively dense, relatively dry, and lacking much of the orange flavours. Disappointing even in every way possible.
The coffee (can't remember which it was) was fine, and the orange just was largely fine. It was slightly bitter, probably due to methods of extraction but that's not a problem to myself.
The seating arrangements were rather uncomfortable unfortunately. While the overall space/room is large and spacious, the seating placement makes it less private and intimate. The 2-seaters were very close to one another that it almost felt like sitting in a canteen. Sound proofing would go a long way as well as the room became very loud and noisy as more guests arrived. Nobody was speaking exceptionally loud but the room was filled nonetheless.
The staffs were great. All polite, friendly and got things done without any issues.
All in all, both of us agreed that we will not be returning...
