Did not manage to dine in so this review is based solely on the service quality.
We tried calling at least 3 times to check if we could get any last min reservations, but no one pick up the call despite ringing until it reached the voicemail. Understood is a long weekend and peak hour probably, so we decided to still visit and try our luck at walking in since most of the reviews are positive. We approached the front desk upon reaching and were trying to get any staff’s attention. The team looks busy but since most of them kept walking pass the front desk (there’s a window serving food from kitchen I think just right behind the desk), we would naturally expect someone to tend to us professionally once they see someone waiting at the front desk. But we waited for a few minutes, crossing eyes with the staff passing by, checking stuff at the desk, but felt ignored as they just walked away when we tried to call them. If the PIC is not around, maybe any of them could’ve tend to us to wait or something rather than leaving customers confused? There are ppl behind and around us, it’s cramped and confusing.
When finally a staff came to us, we wanted to try asking if it’s possible to be put on the waiting list and how long will it probably take to our turn. But we just open our mouth and said “Will it be...”, the staff rudely and quickly pointed at the list in front of him and counted loudly “1234567! 7 ppl waiting. We don’t have time limit. We don’t know when.” -and he’s not even maintaining eye contact with us in the ‘conversation’.
Yes, to us it’s a shock and unprofessional. We were prepared to ask gently taking into account that it’s a busy night, but got stunned before even halfway relaying our enquiry. We’re in service line ourselves so it feels that there could’ve been improvements in handling the situation.
Bad first impression, terrible attitude, and no, we did not demand a table. We got laid off even before...
Read moreFor the past couple of months we have been on a journey to explore some of the best sushi spots in the city. @pekopeko was on our list for the longest time and we had to give it a try. Peko (ペコペコ) literally translates to hunger or the grumbling sound the stomach makes when it feels hungry!
Located in the bustling TTDI neighbourhood, this restaurant has a wide varieties of fresh sushi and other Japanese dishes that would want to make you come back for more!
Here are our personal favourites from the menu:
SUSHI 🍣 Fresh pieces of fish are lightly torched, and they melt like butter in your mouth! Aburi Salmon belly Aburi salmon Aburi Kampachi
MAKI Maki rolls are a comfort food, but at the same time gives you a balanced meal with a mix of fresh proteins, fibre, good fats and rice. Unagi (freshwater eel) Cheese Maki 🔥 Ebiten (prawn) Avocado Maki Aburi Tuna Maki
DONBURI 🍛Tori Katsu Curry—this was our first ever time trying a Japanese curry and we loved it! Japanese sticky rice is served with crunchy fried chicken and flavourful curry with carrots, potatoes and a miso soup on the side. It is a full meal on its own. This was a perfect way to end our meal (you can clearly see there was absolutely no room for dessert 🙄)
Definitely going back to try more dishes...
Read moreThe food was acceptable, but the service was absolutely atrocious. We ordered a set of Sapporo, which included three glasses. My friend and I started with two glasses, and when we finished, we asked for the third glass. They took an absurd amount of time to bring it out. We had to ask more than three times and speak to three different waitstaff. Finally, they brought the last glass and asked if we wanted another. We agreed, but when the bill came, we were charged for five glasses.
When we questioned this, the female waitress/cashier loudly insisted we ordered twice. We explained that we didn't order another set, but she kept yelling, claiming we wanted to keep the last glass. I had no idea what their coin system meant, and they never clarified. Her attitude was extremely rude, and she continued screaming at us. Eventually, she said they'd remove the last glass, making us feel like we were at fault for their mistake.
We only had four glasses, yet we were treated terribly. I will never visit this place again and will make sure the TTDI community knows about this. Additionally, the receipt had two different service taxes, 6% and 8%. As I recall correctly, service tax had for F&B is 6% not 8% why the receipt still charge another 8%. Misleading! Thanks,...
