If you are looking for Ipoh Kai See Hor Fun within the Klang Valley, look no further. This is the best thus far. The broth is awesome without giving you the thirsty ajinomoto sensation which is a testament to their authentic chicken broth. It is as close to Ipoh's as you get and in fact better than most in Ipoh itself. The chicken slices are still tender without being dry. The soy sauce goes perfectly with the dish as it gives it a spicy tang. The hor fun is great soft texture. The prawn wantan soup is an absolute must. The broth is so yummy, different from the kai see hor fun broth. More of a prawn taste. The prawns used in the wantan is super fresh and love all the choysam that comes with it. The cut chicken seems quite popular as I see a lot of customers ordering it but I have yet to try coz everytime I come to this shop, I can't help ordering the hor fun and wantan soup. This is where I go for my fix for this dish. Parking is a problem and number of seats are limited. Try parking at the dry market and walk over. This shop could do with a bit of uplifting renovation coz it is...

Have not eaten this kai ser hor fun for the last 3 to 4 years since MCO started. Had lunch there today (27/07/2023) and it was very disappointing to find the taste has deteriorated significantly. I used to go to this restaurant quite regularly because, at that time, it was the best kai see hor fun in P.J. Now I find the soup is not flavourful like before. In fact it is quite bland. The prawn slices are so thin that you can hardly know you are eating the prawn meat. The prices has increased yet they cut back on the ingredients making it lose the original good taste. You can visually see the broth has very little prawn oil and the chicken meat is very fiberous and not tasty. Nowadays, after MCO, many if not all, the quality of the food industry has deteriorated. They increased the prices and yet they reduce the ingredients to maximise on profits. The people in the food business are getting very greedy. But strangely there are still so many customers who still patronise these food joints despite having to pay high prices for the food and getting lousy tasting and poor...

👍🏻

  1. Fast services, no fuss dining experience
  2. Prices, reasonable for TTDI standard

👎🏻 3) Bean sprout definitely not as round and fat as the Ipoh bean sprout, taste like normal bean sprout. Stingy on the gravy. 4) Ipoh Hor Fun looks really nice, with the texture and prawn oil color scheme, but does not taste any good. The soup is over powered with salt. Looks, rather deceiving for this. 5) Prawn dumplings, also over-powdered with salt. Or it could be the soup that cause the major saltiness. 6) Menu prices, not really clear nor transparent. Though the restaurant has a cash register unit, but not in use. So unless you ask for the individual price, otherwise, you may be underpaying, or been overcharged. And there is no receipt. 7) The dining experience is typical Chinese eateries, warm, humid, and oily floors. 8) The steamed chicken tasted overly cooked, meat becomes overly tendered. The gravy poured on, seems slimy, figured could be too much oyster sauce, which normally would be more shalot oil, sesame oil and soya sauce. So...

I LOVE the chicken at Chong Thoong Kee! Smoothest tasting chicken I've ever eaten, with an OUTSTANDING sauce ladled onto the chicken, and over the "kosong" horfun I always order. The rice flat-noodles (horfun or some call it Ipoh Kway Teow) is beautifully smooth, and covered in that same sauce they make themselves, and using the oil made from frying prawn shells, with the resultant reddish prawn oil ladled over the horfun. Utterly decadent and oh-so-TASTY The soup is just as fragrant, having boiled prawn shells to get that "prawny" flavor. A tad on the salty side, and I'm not sure if there are any flavor enhancers added, so don't drink too much of it. Their prawn wantans contain crisp, bouncy prawns which is reminiscent of the wantans from Mak's Noodles in Hong Kong. Great to share with, if you have a large group. Alas, for me, there's only 2 of us, and we can only polish off half a chicken and a plate of "kosong" (meaning empty, without ingredients other than the kway teow) horfun. A definite must-visit whenever we are in KL!
