Went here for break fasting (iftar) for Ramadhan. There are a few places you can park around the premises which you might need to look around for a good spot, there are also paid parking facilities as well. Since I went there during Ramadhan, there were a few parking spots available, but I can't say the same on normal days, parking might be a little harder then.
The restaurant is pretty cozy a little on the smaller side but still comfortable and can accommodate quite a number of customer. They have variety of tables to fit your group needs. We went there with a party of 7. Reservation might be needed if you don't want to wait for a table especially if you want to break your fast here. There are also clean toilets and a surau for the Muslims. There is an small in house surau for the ladies and they set up an open praying area for the fella just outside the premises.
Next is the food. I'd say since its a Ramadhan buffet, the spread is pretty impressive. You have a lot of option of Arabic cuisine to choose from. There is also lamb grilling for you to take a portion off. Some of the dishes is a little on the heavy side so you might feel a little bloated if you ate too much. Some of the dishes are also on the drier side, like the meatballs, but the taste is still good. (Not entirely their fault since they might not be able to properly taste the food during the puasa month). They also serve a lavish spread of fruits and dessert for the sweet tooth out there. Their knafeh/kunefe is pretty good, not too sweet. What's a little on the sweet side are their drinks though, especially the sirap bandung, the tea is a little on the bitter side probably because of overstepping the tea leaves. However, since there is an array of drink option, there is always one that might suit your needs. I'm content having the infused water already.
Overall a good place to bring your party too for meal. The facility is clean and comfortable. The food is good. Parking might be a little of an issue but what is not a parking issues in KL and PJ am I right?
Might try the restaurant again outside of puasa next time, perhaps that time my review might change too. Thanks for reading this...
Read moreI’m not big on Middle Eastern food but you don’t need to be an aficionado to appreciate good food.
Went to BEDOUIN in the neighbourhood of Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (Kuala Lumpur) for dinner with a few friends. Left absolutely satisfied.
2 salads to start. A fried sliced potato (I think) with cucumber, tomato & olives. Delicious. A good start to the meal. Second salad was simply fresh sliced tomato and pickled gherkins with sprigs of mint on the side.
2 Mains: A lava stone cooked spiced beef and onion dry stew. My favourite dish for the night. A dish wiped clean by the end of the meal. A lamb shank mandi (Middle Eastern styled biryani). Rice was very well prepared. Mutton had good natural flavour and the right tenderness. I would have liked a wee bit more salt on the lamb but that’s just me. My dining companions found it just perfect (as can be seen from the cleaned out bone). 🤣
A “support” dish of baked unleavened bread sprinkled with sesame seed toppings and some hummus dip. This bread is in my opinion another absolute highlight of the meal. Yummy.
Ended the meal with some caramel custard. I felt texture was a little rough but still soft and appetising. The taste of the accompanying sauce was good. Not just a straight forward caramel sweetness, it had some hints of underlying complexity. I thought I tasted hints of orange.
Overall - Very satisfying meal. I’ll certainly be back. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I’ve read some reviews that mention slow food/service. I experienced impeccable and knowledgeable service. So absolutely no complaints. Some of the food served is what I will call “slow cooked food”, food that is at is best when prepared on order and served fresh. It will take some time so perhaps allocate a good amount of time to fully enjoy the Bedouin...
Read moreSlightly ironic that those words are printed on every sheet of napkin(see picture) coz the service was not over par nor was it at for that matter. Upon arrival, there was no wait staff greeting us or attending to us at all even though the place wasn’t exactly very busy and there were actually some that were obviously free. I walked over to the stack of menus myself to browse what’s on offer and then proceeded to seat ourselves on one of the tables. Pressed the “call” button on the table to order, a loud electronic “ding dong” sounded but it might as well have been ambient music as no one came. Had to turn around and try to hail one of the waiters, one male waiter even averted my gaze and pretended to not notice. Those buttons seem to be redundant, i saw at least one other table having a similar experience as us. I mean the servers themselves were alright and all so it wasn’t exactly bad but…..
Lamb shank hanith had a bit of stale bacterial odour on the outer parts of the meat. Prolly wasn’t handled well. No, it’s not the gamey smell of lamb, I like lamb and am ok with a bit of gaminess. This is the odour of things going bad. Like try leaving a used wet table cloth around and then smell it later…. That kind of smell. It happens very easily if you don’t care enough. Pickled purple cabbage on the shish tawook dish has a foul stench either from the water used or the chemicals in the cabbage itself or whatever.
Overall this Middle Eastern joint is not bad if you like spicy aromatic food but can’t handle too much of the chilli heat typical of say, Indian cuisine. But i think there’s so much room for...
