The food and service here have really gone downhill. We visited on a Friday night and left really disappointed, we wishes we went somewhere else.
The food simply isn’t worth the price — it lacks authenticity and feels like a wannabe fine dining experience. For the prices they charge, the quality is no better than Portofino, maybe even worse.
Every dish seemed to be missing something. Just look at the pasta photos, actually looks smaller in person. We wouldn’t have minded paying if the food and service had actually been good.
Free appetizer - toasted hard bread with some spicy pizza sauce. Very cheap, the quaity of the bread would of been so much better wish some buter or special flavored butter.
Croquette: Dry, with barely any sauce. Not worth RM 32. If it tasted better, sure, but can't even give more sauce.
Tube pasta: Undercooked, chewy, hard and dry, no sauce, definitely. Not worth RM 42
Tagliatelle: The only dish that stood out as little bit more decdent. Their homemade pasta quality is the only good thing.
Service: No one checks on the tables. We had to flag people down for everything, same with other tables. When first pasta dish arrived, the server placed one awkwardly in the middle of the table even after I gestured to the correct person.
At payment, the manager (in a white shirt) brought the card machine over without a single word — no eye contact, no smile, no courtesy. After we paid, he just tore off the receipt and walked away. Not a smile, not a thank you.
If this restaurant aims to be a more “upscale” version of Portofino, it’s definitely missed the mark. We live just upstairs and hadn’t been here for over a yea, now we remember why. It's also gone downhill.
Overall, taste, quality, and service have all declined. Absolutely not worth the value.

Read moreThis was a difficult review to write. I’ve been here several times before and each time the food and service has been excellent. However, I recently went in mid-July and ordered the mixed bruschetta with three pieces, which had their vegetarian symbol next to the entire dish. After I bit into one of the bruschetta’s it tasted like meat and not like a plant-based protein that I’ve had many times before in other restaurants. When I asked the waiter he told me that the “beef sausage” bruschetta was meat and not vegetarian. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I am vegetarian! So I pointed out the symbol next to the dish and he confirmed that it was to show vegetarian food. Double OMG!!!!!! After realising the error the waiter went to get someone. Later on I explained the situation again, I guess to someone who was more senior than the waiter. He offered to replace it with something else but the damage had been done. What was also disappointing was this: They charged me for the bruschetta. They only removed it because I told them to take it off. I was celebrating a special occasion and that put a dampener on things. I spoke with the head chef Stefano and urged him to change the menu to reflect that all three bruschettas are NOT vegetarian. Still to this day at the time of writing (31 July), it appears the menu hasn’t been updated. So a WARNING to fellow vegetarians. This is also a warning to anyone who may have food allergies and could react negatively to their dishes, or if you can’t eat certain foods for religious reasons. For your own health and peace of mind, best to check with staff as the symbols and descriptions may be misleading and incorrect. Now the difficulty is, would or should I return? Maybe. The food is tasty and the ambience is...

I do suggest if you get the rest of your food to go, check to ensure you have ALL that was left on the plate as I did not receive the remainder of the Wagyu beef cheek I had left over.
I returned to Dolce Vita today for my second visit, and it was nothing short of unforgettable. Around noon, I enjoyed the Wagyu beef cheek, paired with a Vitamin C citrus drink, a mocha latte, and a refreshing Paulaner beer. My friend ordered the five fromage pizza, and we shared truffle fries to start.
The Wagyu beef cheek was the highlight of the meal — incredibly tender, melting in the mouth with rich, layered flavors. The portion was generous, so much so that I couldn’t even finish it, yet every bite was exquisite. The truffle fries were crisp and aromatic, and the beverages balanced the meal beautifully.
Beyond the food, the ambience is captivating: soft jazz renditions of popular songs create a relaxing atmosphere that feels like a little piece of Italy here in Malaysia. The staff deserves special mention as well — attentive, patient, and knowledgeable, they enhance the overall experience with their warmth and professionalism.
Dolce Vita has impressed me twice now, and I can’t wait to return to try more of their menu, especially the seabass in orange sauce next time. This is a place I would wholeheartedly recommend not only to solo travelers but also to families, as it’s more than capable of delivering an exceptional dining experience...
