This is a must-visit traditional steamboat spot in Kepong! Over the years, with so many China-style mala hotpot chains entering Malaysia, GOOD traditional steamboat restaurants have become harder to find. Yet, Hometown has remained a true gem. I still remember dining here more than 10 years ago back in my high school days. It has always been a great place for gatherings, and the best part is, the taste hasn’t dropped at all. In fact, it has only gotten better over the years. On top of that, their set packages are incredibly affordable, making it even more worth...

After all the China-style hotpot, #Hometown steamboat gives you a local flavour. The Tom Yum soup, coupled with the milky fish head soup, is a good combination - mixing both soups in a bowl sort of toned down the spiciness of the Tom Yum soup. A set for two pax costs less than RM 50. And you can add other items from the menu based on your liking. Nothing fancy about the restaurant's setting, but the wait staff is very attentive, you just need to raise your hand, and they attend to you immediately.

I've eaten here for years, and I'd say it's a nice place for steamboat, with friendly staff members. Better get there early as this place tends to get packed by 7pm and you'd have families and groups of people staring at you trying to telepathically tell you to hurry finish your food so that they can get a table. And parking is horrendous due to its "strategic location" - in the middle of a conjoining one-way junction. So please don't uphold the Malaysian timing and get there as early as you can. Overall a...

The soup bases were excellent! We had the pork bone soup and white curry soup – both were rich, fragrant, and not overly salty. Ingredients were fresh and portions generous, with perfectly sliced meat and clean, fresh seafood. Prices are reasonable, around RM25–RM30 per person to eat to your fill. Staff were friendly, service was quick, and the environment was clean and bright. Perfect for gatherings with friends or family – will definitely come back again!
