Star Cafe Taman Desa — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Definitely an amazing experience! Firstly i would like to compliment the new look on star cafe! I got to know that they just renovated and i was really amazed of how beautiful and comfy the design was! This is my first time going to star cafe, AND IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The environment was so comfortable and relaxing very suitable for family gatherings or might i even say an amazing spot for friends and colleagues to come together. I was shocked at how the layout was made. It definitely a sight to see! They have ample space and the vibe is just amazing. Secondly the food was amazing! I had the spaghetti with scallops (not the real name cause i forgot haha) but wow it was amazing! I’d give it a 8.5/10 (fyi it was my first time trying scallops) an it definitely did not disappoint. The combination of every ingredient was just spot on! I’m a very particular guy when it comes to seafood, but i totally enjoyed my food it was amazing. The portion was really reasonable and so was the pricing! I also had an iced matcha latte, it was good i’d give it a 6.5/10. I personally enjoyed it, for a person who enjoys the authenticity of pure matcha flavour it really was a job well done but definitely some room to improve. I also ordered a slice of tea cheese cake ( i cannot remember what tea hahaha) but on GOD IT WAS AMAZING. I’m not a cake lover but that first bite just made me fall in love. I don’t know about other people but for me the cake was the best i’ve tasted in entire life. THE BEST. They definitely got me hooked and wanting to comeback for it! It was a 12/10. MUST TRY!! It was creamy but just the perfect amount, it was soft and the amount of sweetness was just perfection. it was truly an amazing experience there at star cafe. FYI the second floor is PORK AND LARD FREE. But there’s alcohol but also so many non alcoholic beverages to discover too! I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND STAR CAFE. Star Cafe is a fusion cafe / pub located off Old Klang Road (Taman Desa) and is one of the oldest pubs / cafe here. They serve fusion food with a wide variety of food ranging from Curry fish head to Aglio olio pasta. We tried the following food here:

1. Hainanese Grilled Chicken Chop This came looking more like the usual chicken chop...Taste was average, but the sauce was a bit diluted (looks more like soup). Not the regular Hainanese chicken chop you would find from places like Yut Kee in KL. Food taste 3🌟

2. Pork (Siew Yok) Salad Weird fusion salad which didn't really blend well, as the salad tasted too Sour-ish and the pork Siew Yok was seriously hard. Recommend a pass if u do dropby. Well that said, might be a bit unfair since I'm not really a salad person. Food taste 2 🌟

What makes the place nice is that it has a VERY Comfortable ambiance, it's clean, place is spacious with private rooms and also smoking zones. Aircond was also blasting throughout the place which makes the place irresistible... Especially on a hot sunny day. It deserved a 4 🌟 rating mainly because of its excellent customer service. Definitely a place I would still visit next time... Maybe trying the Asian food...

Every single dish I ordered here was amazing! I actually forgot to take photos of most of them because I was too busy diving into the delicious food. Portions are generous, and the pricing is very reasonable for the quality you get. Their coffee drinks are also top-notch. The cafe’s interior is beautiful — aesthetic, green, and cozy, perfect for relaxing. I learned that at night, it transforms into a bar with a live band, which sounds like a great vibe.

Tip: The cafe is located on the second floor. The first floor houses a Chinese restaurant, which has a brighter, more family-friendly and corporate dinner atmosphere. The two levels share a harmonious design style, but each gives a different feeling — the first floor is bright and lively, while the second floor feels cozy and laid-back, great for catching up with friends.
