Think they don't deserve the bad reviews I saw here so wanted to justify the key points for them.
Price: Yes, it's on the higher end for instant noodles (probably due to latest cost adjustment). A bowl of mama mee deluxe (meatball n seafood) is now rm15. But I just want to say it's because their ingredients are so fresh. I've rarely tasted such bouncy prawns/squid and fresh pork meatballs, even in reputable restaurants.
SOP: It's so much improved than whoever had bad experiences previously. Menu are all pdf. Server will check your check in details. Not that much of a queue at all and I went at 7pm?
Temperature: Yes, slightly hot on the inside (maybe bad ventilation) but they installed so many fans. If anything, just sit outside. They added tables and it's super cooling outside.
Service: Tip top, server was attentive to small things (like when we needed additional chair for bag space). Also very fast serving time of food. Easy transaction of payment.
Overall: quite like the overall food, but it's still instant noods tho so not gonna eat often. A good and must try their tomyam mama mee ofc. Honestly their tomyam was so great and I usually hate soup noodles. WOULD RECOMMEND.
Recommendation: maybe add bigger space between tables as it could get crowded in peak times. also might not be wise for people to take their own cutleries in pandemic time? (Altho most chapfan places also the...
Read moreThis place is extremely popular with young people. Luckily we went there early about 7:45mm and there were plenty of seats. It’s a really small shop and tables are extended out to the side of the shop. Although it was less stuffy sitting outside, the breeze that brought along the awful rubbish smell was a total turnoff ! For a shop that’s supposedly specialized in mama mee, I was impressed by the extensive menu comprising of other pasta dishes and some Japanese inspired dishes. The main dish I ordered was the mama mee with seafood & pork balls - highly rated. The serving was good for 2pax to share. It came with two pork meat balls, prawns, squid, mushrooms, & an uncooked egg yolk ! The soup was just as expected - it was sour but not exactly too spicy. It was ok but not really my type of noodles. The Thai milk tea was pretty good although the price at Rm6.50 for such outdoor shop seems a bit overpriced. Prices seems reasonable enough but don’t expect any service though as we had to scan the QR code to view the menu, write our orders down, submit our orders at the cashier & make payment, collect our own cutlery ……. hence no...
Read moreThe broth is really good, sour yet tasty, not too spicy. The portion is fairly huge too. Noodles are well-cooked, very springy. Seafood are fresh as well. The meatballs are one of the highlight, they're flavorful and juicy. They go very well with the mains.
Smoked duck is basic and acceptable, a bit dry and lack of tenderness. Drinks are okay, definitely twisted to suit Malaysian flavor. We are anticipating a much sweeter version of Thai green tea, which resembles those in Thailand. However, although tasted diluted, the tea itself has great aroma and overall it's refreshing.
Service wise, it was alright. The staffs are a lot more considerate, friendlier and helpful compared to the cashier/boss, who seems to be triggered by the fact that one of his staff allowing all of us (5 pax) to sit on 1 table. He was literally black-faced and kept staring at us till we finished. Considering the portion served, the current SOP and the concept of 夜宵食堂, I don't see the point of forcing a family to split...
