I recently visited Restoran Ketam Steamboat, and unfortunately, it was a rather disappointing experience. For a steamboat dinner for two, the bill came up to around RM70++, which I felt was quite steep considering the quality of the food and overall experience.
The soup base, which is usually the highlight of any good steamboat, was bland and lacked depth of flavour. It didn’t elevate the meal in any way and left us reaching for sauces just to make things more palatable. The food items provided were also underwhelming – most of them felt like mass-produced, factory-made ingredients that lacked freshness and authenticity.
From frozen meat slices to basic seafood and processed balls, the selection didn’t feel worth the price. I had expected a more satisfying and hearty meal, especially given the price point, but left feeling unsatisfied and a little let down.
Service was acceptable, but it couldn’t make up for the quality of the food. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place if you're looking for a memorable steamboat experience. With so many better options around at more reasonable prices, I won’t be returning. Sorry, but this one’s a...
Read moreOne of my go to places for traditional steamboat. The one that I have been having for years in Malaysia when growing up. Usually we will go with half clear soup and half Tom yum but there was only the 3 of us eating this time so we didn’t want to over-order.
We ordered a set meal which cost RM27.90. This set came with veges, noodles, meat/fish balls, cuttlefish, fried beancurd skin. There was initially a minimal order of 2 but they told us that we could order one value set meal and 3 Ala carte dishes which we did. We chose lala, tofu and more fried beancurd skin.
The soup was really rather bland and we really needed the other ingredients to add to the taste. The chilli sauce was good though. Not the most amazing steamboat but it was definitely comfort food.
The place is currently being run by foreigners which is a...
Read moreCame for dinner with my boyfriend after gone through some recommending posts from xiaohongshu claiming that this restaurant offers the “most affordable steamboat yet tasty”, so i thought it worth a try. We were so disappointed after the high expectations we had. Tomyam soup is so bland, clear soup tastes like anchovies only in the soup components. The set wasn’t worth the price as well, all the ingredients given are processed food( as shown in the pics), fresh ingredients only consists of octopus(2 legs), squid(2 pcs), 2 prawns( not fresh at all). Really dissatisfied, RM27/pax should be considered relatively cheap, but given the quantity and quality of food, i would say it’s not...
