Another chain Japanese restaurant normally found in most high end malls serving prepared sushi to cook to order Ala carte menus. Restaurant is located at the ground floor right wing of Mont kiara 1 and is quite spacious. Food quality is satisfactory and it is what saved its ratings for me. Scan to order is a hassle especially for the elderly or those who are less tech savvy and orders placed was jumbled up badly for our group as 2 orders of the same items by 2 separate person but on 2 different tickets seated at the same table was served in 1 large plate and no info from the crew about it. Confusion arises when we started to look for our order which in reality have been served but already eaten by others as we ordered no less than 50 dishes for our party. Overall, its the ordering, serving and delivery system that need a lot of improvements before I would ever step my foot back to establishment like these . Orders should be served according to the receipt that come in and not lump together and served as 1 entity. Even if that happens, it is common sense and courtesy to at least inform your customers about it. Simply assuming that the customers can figure out what was being served is unacceptable as most don't even know the Japanese name of the dishes they ordered. Simple logic like these showed a lack of management skills . I will invite the manager to an Italian or French restaurant and see if he can figure out what he ordered was being served without the waiter telling which order they are serving now especially when there are about 20 pax in that group. The manager should take the full blame on this type of avoidable delivery system. Thumbs up for the food but 2 big thumbs down for the delivery system.Recommended with serious...
Read moreThe outlet used to be on Level 1 but now have moved to the ground floor. Sushi Zanmai is a chain restaurant that made its name for offering sushi on the conveyable belt at an affordable price. Times have changed and now the belt has been removed. I suppose sushi are now made based on orders. They have also done away with physical menus. The menu is online and we are to do our own ordering. I wonder what happens if someone doesn't have phone Internet data though or if there's no access. Back to the real test, the food. It's good for the price paid. I had ramen with chicken teriyaki and lobster roll. I like that they offer small and large portions for noodles and rice bowls. The ramen broth was alright, not as thick as I would like it but this is a sushi restaurant, not ramen. I am happy with the egg! It's cooked correctly! Slightly disappointed with the lobster roll. So much mayonnaise used that I couldn't tell if lobster was even used. The rice part was well cooked. The wait staff...
Read moreI’m honestly surprised by the recent negative reviews because my experiences here with friends and family have always been satisfying.
The sashimi is consistently fresh, and I’m a big fan of the kanbe—fors just around 21 MYR, you get a whole hotpot with a generous serving of seafood or beef for two, which is a steal. The donburi offerings, especially the ebi don, are good, the tempura combined with soft egg over rice is a comforting and hearty meal when you’re really hungry. The gyoza is reliably delicious, and honestly, everything I’ve tried on the menu has been tasty.
I don’t quite understand the complaints about it not being worth the price. Sure, it’s not high-end or gourmet, but for the price point, it’s definitely a solid option for Japanese food.
The staff is attentive, although it can get pretty busy at times, and the place is kept clean. All things considered, it’s a great spot for a...
