Tatsu Japanese Cuisine, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur
My recent visit to Tatsu Japanese Cuisine at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur was a thoroughly pleasant experience, and I would highly recommend it to those seeking a refined Japanese dining atmosphere in the heart of the city.
We visited during Tuesday lunchtime, and the restaurant was notably quiet, with only a few tables occupied. Its location on the mezzanine floor of the InterContinental Hotel provides an exclusive and tranquil setting, ideal for business discussions or private meals—a refreshing contrast to the typically crowded venues in the Kuala Lumpur business district (KLBD). The fact that my friend’s office is conveniently located just behind the hotel at Binjai Premium Soho added to the ease of access.
We ordered a variety of dishes: • Sushi set • Sashimi set • Grilled lamb • Hot green tea • Latte to finish
Each dish was expertly prepared and elegantly presented. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and well-balanced in flavour and texture, clearly reflecting high-quality ingredients. The grilled lamb stood out in particular, offering a perfectly cooked and flavourful alternative for those who prefer meat dishes. Though I did not pay the bill personally, I would say that the overall quality of food and service speaks well of the value offered.
The service was excellent—the staff were attentive, polite, and well-versed in the menu. Their professionalism contributed significantly to the comfort and ease of our lunch.
In summary, Tatsu offers a quiet, comfortable environment, making it suitable for both casual and professional gatherings. I would not hesitate to return, and I recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Japanese cuisine with excellent service in...
Read moreI seldom leave bad reviews for a place but the disappointment is just too much. Like people have said before, the dining here is essentially half self service buffet counter, half free flow order. The choices at the buffet counter are limited as is, the sushi is average, out of the sashimi available, only the salmon truly outshines the rest. The breaded scallops are not even scallops, they are cheap crabstick filaments deep fried. The waiters are polite, however service is horrendous.
Came here for the all you can eat on my last night in KL for a final treat. Decor was beautiful however, the lighting was far too dark for how many hazardous steps there are. The food is essentially half buffet style and the other half is has to be ordered. All appetisers offered were delicious and full of umami. The sashimi is good as it was self service however, food which had to be ordered took an exceptionally long time before it is served. The only things I would recommend is the unagi kabayaki and Saba teriyaki. Salmon teriyaki was overcooked, all tempura was served cold, scallops were small and lacked flavour. The beef Angus teppanyaki was tender but still lacked alot of flavour. Fried chicken was dry and cold. All the cake desserts served on the day were average. Finally, the ice cream which was served after asking three times was icy as if it was melted and refrozen. As it was a special day for my partner and I, the staff had organised a cake for us. However, we were tired of waiting and was only told of this as we were paying. We appreciate the kind gesture but overall, disappointed with the food quality...
