TCRS Avenue K
This was my first visit to The Chicken Rice Shop (TCRS) outlet at Avenue K, although I’ve been to several other branches before. As expected, the quality of food and the overall experience are consistent with TCRS’s well-known standards – hearty portions, family-friendly menus, and reliable service.
We ordered the 308 Family Fiesta Set, designed for 5–6 persons, and it was truly impressive both in variety and taste. The set included a generous spread: Hainanese Steamed Chicken, Roast Chicken, Prime Honey BBQ Chicken, and assorted portions like wings and breast, which were all perfectly cooked – tender, juicy, and well-marinated. The accompanying sides such as Tofu with Oyster Sauce, Nyonya Pai Tee, Stuffed Fish Balls, and Ipoh Bean Sprouts brought a rich balance of flavours and textures to the meal.
The inclusion of six portions of rice and soup, along with refreshing drinks like Mirinda Strawberry, Mineral Water, and the indulgent Famous Kuching 3 Layer Tea, completed the meal splendidly. The Rainbow Delights and Kerabu Mango added a vibrant, appetising touch that pleased everyone at the table.
Despite the lunchtime crowd, the service was prompt, friendly, and efficient. The ordering process was smooth – either through scanning a QR code or opting for manual ordering, which provides good flexibility depending on your preference.
The Avenue K outlet gets busy quite quickly, especially around noon, so I recommend arriving slightly earlier to secure a seat without waiting.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this visit. TCRS Avenue K upholds the reliable quality that TCRS fans have come to expect. Highly recommended for families and groups looking for a fulfilling, value-for-money meal with efficient service in a clean and comfortable...
Read moreI visited The Chicken Rice Shop at Avenue K for lunch with my family. We ordered the Hainanese Chicken Rice Meal (Set For 1), the Personal Meal Box, and the Ayam Bakar Oh-Semm. The food was served quickly and the portions were generous. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the rice was fragrant and fluffy. The sauces were also delicious and complemented the chicken well. The DeLIGHTful Koli was a crispy and juicy snack that we enjoyed. The Pak Choy with Oyster Sauce and the Spicy Savoury Ladies' Fingers were fresh and crunchy. The Nyonya Pai Tee and the Penang Rojak were also tasty appetizers. The soup of the day was warm and comforting, and the rainbow delight dessert was a sweet treat to end the meal. The drinks were refreshing and had a variety of choices.
The service was friendly and attentive. The staff greeted us with a smile and took our orders promptly. They also checked on us regularly and refilled our drinks when needed. The restaurant was clean and spacious, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The decor was simple and elegant, with a touch of Malaysian culture.
The price was reasonable and worth the quality and quantity of the food. The total bill for three people, which was affordable and satisfying. We had a great dining experience at The Chicken Rice Shop and would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves chicken rice and Malaysian cuisine. It is one of the best places to enjoy a wholesome and delicious meal with...
Read moreWe have been regular weekly customers at Chicken Rice Shop, but today we had one of the worst dining experiences ever.
Me and four friends came for lunch, placed our order, ate, and within just 30 minutes we were already finishing up — which is definitely a quick and reasonable dine-in time. Yet halfway through, another customer suddenly came and stood right next to our table, staring at us in a very unfriendly way. A minute later, she actually shouted at us to leave because there was a queue outside — and clearly, she was one of them.
We were shocked. We had already finished our rice and were just sipping our drinks. I even told her politely that we hadn’t finished our drinks yet, but she continued to scold us, calling us “inconsiderate.”
What made it worse is that none of the staff stepped in to handle this situation. They simply allowed another customer to disturb and ruin our dining experience. It’s the restaurant’s responsibility to manage waiting customers and table arrangements — not let them harass people who are still eating. I also noticed there were smaller tables that could have easily seated 2–3 pax, but instead of managing that, they left us to be shouted at.
I know Chicken Rice Shop is not a fine dining place, but customers should at least be allowed to finish their meal and drink in peace. Today’s poor management made me feel disrespected and extremely...
