I brought my mother here for her special 70th birthday, and it was everything I hoped for- absolutely wonderful! Even with a last-minute booking the day before, I was able to secure a table over the phone (I’m a visitor to Malaysia and had difficulty securing the online booking), and the staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful throughout.
From the moment we arrived, the service, food, and ambiance were flawless. My mum was beaming the entire time, and it turned into a birthday we’ll all remember fondly. A huge thank you to the staff for making her day feel so special- it truly meant a lot to us.
We dined in the Orchid Room, a stunning greenhouse-style space filled with natural light and charm filled with top quality beautiful exotic orchids. Do dress warmly if you’re heading there, as it can be a bit cool- but they thoughtfully provide pashminas for guests who need them. There are indoor seating options as well, but the Orchid Room I felt is especially magical and was well worth the slightly higher high tea price.
We also had a peek at the indoor dining room, which is equally elegant (a tad bit gentler on the wallet), featuring a grand piano and live music that beautifully complemented the refined atmosphere.
The food was exquisite. Plenty of variety (from sweet, savory, creamy, etc.), all presented as finger foods. Every bite delicious, and beautifully presented- they surprised us with little small cakes accompanied with candles just for the occasion and sang happy birthday ❤️. We couldn’t fault anything and my Mum’s quite the food critic 😅 I ordered a tier of high tea each for a party of three. There was so much food we had to take home some as we were too full. The tea selection was extensive, and the staff’s attentiveness and kindness elevated the whole experience. The mini food warmers for the pastries and candle lit bases for the teapots was a nice touch considering the cool temperature of the glass room.
As a lovely bonus, our visit coincided with a Make-A-Wish Foundation event being held in the hotel events area. My mum got a chance to meet the CEO of Malaysia and made a donation- it was a serendipitous and meaningful way to wrap up a truly special day at...
Read moreThe waiter who served us is the worst person as he told us that the orchid is fully booked and there are no tables. We have arrived the place at 2pm and the majestic hotel manager had already done reservation for us prior to that. But when we arrived and informed our names, the Bangladeshi male waiter told our name is not in the list and if want to make reservation need one month prior. We were shock because we had done reservation. The waiter was deliberately trying to push us a way until a Malaysian staff noticed. We told the matter to him and he said there must be some misunderstanding. The Malaysian staff went away to call Mr.Michael the manager meanwhile waiting the Bangladeshi staff was keep sighing and getting frustrated at us. Honestly we had made up our mind to leave because it was embarrassing and we don’t want our foods to be spited. Thankfully the hotel manager and the Malaysian staff came and informed that we can have our high tea. Now after that happened, omg the Bangladeshi guy was frustrated to give us the menu and also to show the type of teas are there in the box. He was very rude, unfriendly and we were just smiling trying not to ruin our day because of this rude staff. When our foods arrived, the way he played on the table was like someone banging books loud. We really intended to leave but we had to pay earlier because the orchid receives last customer at 2.30. Due to the misunderstanding between the hotel staffs it dragged and made us wait without any complimentary drinks or even apologies. When we left the table and want to look around the orchid flowers, the same staff told us not to go near it’s only to view from the table but there were other customers who even touch the plants. I’m really disappointed by Majestic Hotel way of customer service. We just ate quickly and left the place. Both my husband and I are doctors and this is the first time being ill treated in a hotel like this. I would rather spend my weekend high tea at st.Regis drawing room. Never coming back to this...
Read moreMy friend and I were there last Friday. After several attempts at making a reservation, we finally managed to get a place for two at the Orchid Room. Was impressed with the orchids. But totally disappointed with the food.
Tea - extremely disappointing. (1), for an establishment marketed as a premium hotel, we had expected a wider selection of tea. Instead we were only given Twinnings - a brand that we could typically get at our local grocer stores. (2), the tea comes in a tea bag instead of loose tea leaves. (3), no-refill of water policy, how do you expect us to enjoy our afternoon tea if you don't allow us to refill our tea. It does not cost an arm and leg for water! Needless to say, this left us with a very 'bad taste'.
Food - the food and presentation left much to be desired. The puff pastry and chicken rendang puff wasn't flacks but clumped into a thick layer, giving the impression that the pastries were frozen and not freshly made. The scones and deserts which was the highlight of the day was a big let-down. Scones were again not flaky and buttery. The other cupcakes very very meh.
Overall, we felt that the entire afternoon tea was a very poor attempt with very little thought into making a memorable afternoon tea at the Orchid Room, The Majestic hotel.
Definitely won't be back and certainly not worth...
