U Restaurant — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Food and atmosphere unknown. Just want to share my experience on booking a table with this restaurant. My first call to this restaurant was on 2 feb, to book a table for two for Valentine’s Day. In the call I checked with the staff if they have set course or I can just order from ala carte menu. The lady said we can just order from ala carte menu, never mention about set menu and deposit is needed for booking.

On 6 Feb, I received a WA message asking me to pay rm200 deposit, i afraid it’s a scam because it’s not the same number that I called earlier. so I called restaurant to verify this, then they said yes, deposit needed and can refund balance on the same day if final bill is less than deposit amount. Again, I reminded this to the person who texted me on WA. This person couldn’t confirm until 8 feb, this person sent me a set menu RM 375 per pax, said that they only serve this set menu on valentines day now!

I never experienced this kind of service before with any restaurant, worst experience ever!!! Absolutely not celebrating Valentine’s Day(and any day) in this...

The place looks great, Top notch decoration. Nice ambience and very exotic fusion japanese look.

But my 1st conversation with the waitress put me off the place immediately, and 1st impression of the place went down to the drain.

My boyfriend and I had a dinner nearby. Were having a walk and saw the place. We were curious and wanted to check out. found that there was a second floor and asked the waitress about it.

The conversation went down immediately like this:

Me: Hey there's a second floor, can we check it out?

Waitress: Private booking only.

Me: Ya, sure. We would like to check it out.

Waitress: it's 5k and 10 pax only.

Me:...

I was gonna walk off but because my boyfriend really like the ambience so we stayed for tea. If it's not because of him, I'd have walked off immediately.

Snooty to the max, this older lady. I couldn't believe that this kind of service still exists.

But to be hair, another younger waitress was very pleasant.

Lured by 5 star ratings and super foodie comments.. we went to this restaurant for a birthday celebration. As a summary, Food was unimpressive with an expensive price tag. Also do note that this is a fusion Japanese Restaurant so don't expect authentic stuffs here. Even the 'U' Fried Rice (3 🌟) which is a signature here felt like it was from a mamak stall. Also the Chawansmuhi, which was seperately ordered (a barometer of a Jap Restaurant) was tasteless. Tried other stuffs here too and most are below average (too lazy to write since I won't be back here anyway).
