Nothing great, lacks typical Arabic Yemeni sate and aroma. Average food quality, good restaurant setup, great Location close to KLLC. I personally know Arabic Food and taste because i lived in the Middle East for more than 40 years. Mandi is usually made from rice, meat([[Lamb camle and mutton|lamb]] or chicken), and a mixture of spices. The meat used is usually a young and small sized lamb to enhance the taste further. The main thing which differentiates Mandi from other meat dishes is that the meat is cooked in the tandoor (taboon in Arabic), which is a special kind of oven. The tandoor is usually a hole dug in the ground and covered inside by clay. To cook mandi, dry wood is placed in the tandoor and burned to generate a lot of heat turning into charcoal. The meat is then suspended inside the tandoor without touching the charcoal. After that, the whole tandoor is closed but an airvent is given to remove excess smoke. Raisins, pine nuts, or peanuts can be added to the rice as per one's taste. The meat is first boiled with whole spices until tender. The spiced stock is then used to cook the Basmati rice. The boiled meat is then put into the 'tandoor' to roast and crisp. When the rice is done the final part would be to smoke the rice by adding a piece or charcoal amber onto some cooking oil on a metal dish and put into the rice and cover to smoke for...
Read moreYes.. this is the second Middle Eastern restaurant that I'd gone to recently, after catching the bug. And this again came to the mind when I was indecisive on what to eat for dinner. As we were in the vicinity of Jalan Ampang, we took Grab to head to our destination.
Located along the busy Jalan Ampang, the standalone building gave us such a good impression. Service was quick and friendly and we were shown to our table quickly. ◾Lamb madghout - lamb and long grain rice cooked with pressure cooker with mix of their in-house special spices, and extra tomato sauce, served with special chilly sauce. ◾Wadi Hadramawt mix grilled - perhaps the best value of all the grilled dishes where lamb, chicken, fish, prawn and beef (we didn't touch the beef) were thrown in. Apart from the prawns (past its glory but not yet mushy), everything was commendable. ◾Mullawah - I think that I'd grown to love this bread reminiscent of roti canai. ◾Ogda chicken - chicken meat, onion, and garlic fried with tomato puree. Ordered this because the kids were lazy to chew big chunk of meats but we ended up eating most of it.
It was a satisfying dinner to say the least.. the bill came a little over RM100 and I was glad to foot the bill since all of us...
Read moreWe ordered 35 lamb mandy and 15 chicken mandy at Wadi Hadramawt less than 24 hrs before our tahlil on Sunday and they delivered on time! Food was generous (can feed twice as many people) and everything was delicious. The lamb was fall off the bone tender and the rice was flavourful. Booking was easily done via whatsapp. We would definitely use their service again for our next event.
Update: We chose Wadi Hadramawt again for our second tahlil and ordered more food – 35 lamb mandy, 20 chicken mandy, and 15 lamb spaghetti. We wish we had ordered more lamb spaghetti cos it was gone in 10 minutes! Everyone also loved the chicken mandy and said it was lembut gila (super tender). All the food came in generous portion. We also ordered 10 portions of garlic sauce cos many people asked for it the first time around.
We would definitely order from Wadi Hadramawt for large gatherings! They are easy to deal with and very accomodating - we requested for buffer trays with lid and plates this time around (too tired to wash the dishes 😭) and they obliged. They came to collect the unwashed trays and plates after the event was over (we scraped the leftovers and stacked them nicely ofc)....
