Once upon a time, this was my go-to place for Ikan Tiga Rasa and Sup Ekor/Tulang. Then the council decided to upgrade the area, which was really needed. As far as my opinion goes, they did it with no in depth planning or consultation with the businesses already there and had no inkling as to what was needed. So they made a right mess of it. There are not near enough tables for the businesses (mostly eateries) to have a decent turnover. They added toilets (which are now in horrible condition) between the eateries and the playground. But the coupe de grace is the huge area for a misplaced, badly lit and unnecessary playground next to the road. That space would have been better utilised to place the toilets at the far end and link the eateries to more tables. Let's get back to the food at Yusuf Tomyam. There used to be 3-4 cooks but now there's only 1 guy doing all the cooking. The sup tulang was still decent. The sambal now is watered down and tasteless. The other dishes, nasi goreng ayam kunyit, kangkung sambal belacan and paprik campur was all well below par. All was bland and tasted similar and nowhere near the Yusuf Tomyam standard post refurbishment. The tea was almost orange in colour. The meal cost RM 45.00. An average price for below average food. I believe the other (better) cooks are in their branch in Segambut and maybe the quality of dishes is better at that branch. I have not been to try the food there so this is just a hypothesis. Very disappointed that we've lost a good warung in...
