I recently dined at Anuar's Fish Head Curry and, regrettably, it was an experience I won't soon forget. This establishment left a sour taste in my mouth, and not in the way one hopes for when indulging in a delicious fish curry. To put it bluntly, it was the most expensive fish curry I've ever encountered, and it certainly didn't live up to the hefty price tag.
Upon arriving at Anuar's, I was taken aback by the RM100 cost for a portion of their famous fish head curry, which also included squid and fried chicken. While I don't mind paying a premium for exceptional food, I was genuinely shocked at the cost, especially considering what was served.
The first bite was a revelation, and not in a good way. The taste of the fish head curry was overwhelmingly salty. It was as if the chef had mistaken a salt shaker for a seasoning jar. The saltiness masked any subtlety or depth of flavor that a well-prepared fish head curry should possess. It was an unpleasant assault on my taste buds, to say the least.
Adding to the disappointment was the disorganized service. We were kept waiting for an uncomfortably long time, and the staff seemed unprepared to handle the number of diners. It was a chaotic and frustrating experience that left us feeling undervalued as customers.
In the end, I can't help but express my disappointment with Anuar's Fish Head Curry. The exorbitant price, excessively salty food, and disorganized service make it an experience I would not recommend to anyone. It's a true letdown that a restaurant with such a renowned name failed to live up to its reputation during my visit. I have no intention of returning, and I would advise others to consider their dining options carefully before heading to Anuar's Fish Head Curry. This, sadly, was a genuinely...
Read moreI can't stess how good the chicken tastes and how cheap it is!!! But for cheap food there are sacrifices you have to make such as eating without a fan ( few tables further has) and water to wash your hands seems like it uses the rain water? I'm not sure it just looks like it.. Anyways back to the food... Omg the chicken tastes so good and its only RM 3 for a piece.... RM 3!!!! THERE'S NO WHERE YOU CAN FIND A CHICKEN AT THAT PRICE... The bean sprout and lady finger are freeeeeeee!! The bean sprout is raw just a heads up... The curry... Wow just wow... Fish head curry is so flavourful! It can be spicy for certain people but to me it's just average which is good as it will not ruin the taste of the chicken... They also serve squids, fried fish, fish head (can be expensive around rm 40 for a medium?) just ask the guy that is serving the food... He's called Annuar and he's such a down to earth person... We asked many questions and he answered all of them without feeling annoyed while serving the customers... Oh ya he's the owner of the shop! Have a chat with him!! There's drinks too... I ordered the Teh`O Ais for only RM 1!! But keep in mind... RM1 drinks aren't perfect... Well the drinks were really diluted but for the price you really can't complain!! My friend told me they usually sold out by the end of the day and there will always... Yes ALWAYS be a massive crowd during lunch hours around 12pm to 2pm so come early to avoid the massive crowd!!! Conclusion... For cheap and good food sacrifices have to be made!!
Definitely go and have a try it won't dissapoint! Good luck...
Read moreI went there at 11am. Already quarter full in this tiny corner roadside stall. So yeah, please be there by 1030am - 1130am. The mega crowd will arrive at noonish. I ordered the curry fish head and one squid. Let's talk about the squid first. The squid had this amazing tumeric spice taste. And it was so soft and just a pleasure to chew and chew. Now, we talk about the creme de la creme. The dish that made this place a legendary eatery. The dish that made Mark Wiens tilt his head while closing his eyes as though to simulate a foot massage in Sukhumvit. The curry fish head can be ordered based on size. I went alone therefore I ordered the smallest fish head. Came out piping hot complete with piping hot rice. The curry was fabulous, spicy enough and a delight to drench your rice onto. The rice probably went "Come on me.. come on me !!!!" The fish head meat was supple and tender. I flipped the head to one side and before I made it to the other side, some parts of the fish had fallen off. That's how delicate it was. I devoured the entire fish head including the eyes. Yum Yum. I also ordered two plates of rice. In between, I munched on the squid. Two great dishes and it cost me RM50.00. I left the place satisfied and told everyone to leave me alone for 2 days as what pythons will do after gorging...
