Kin by The Daily Fix — Restaurant in Malacca

this is our first time visiting this cafe and the experience didn’t wow us. lucky i didn’t come all the way from JB for this cafe. visited while i was in Melaka. people on twitter wow it so much that i put high expectation on it.

the service was good and the staffs were helpful. the cafe interior is so pretty and pleasant. probably few cafe with aesthetic cafe vibe in Melaka. the parking at this area is super limited but i visited during the weekdays before peak hour so it was fine. the seats are limited so come early.

the matcha latte was normal in my opinion. the signature beef rice was normal because i put on too much expectation on it. i blame twitter influencer. i expected it taste like katsu rice but it was not. the gravy is kinda too mild for me, i wish it was spicy to cover the taste and smell of the egg. the egg taste soooo eggy which make me jelak/ muak. two of can’t finish one bowl of it (a woman sharing with a young guy). the portion is so huge i must say. one bowl can share with 3 or 4 person if you would like to try few menu. the burger portion was HUGE. my brother was shocked with the size. it came with crispy fries, the fries was good and seems like not the frozen grocery shop fries. the burger tasted good. i’m glad there was one menu could cover for our let down. didn’t get to try their pastry as we’re already too full.

First time we went to this place last few years back, we were star-struck with their carrot cake. Sampai tahap, whenever we got chances to buy or taste any other carrot cakes, me and my wife strongly agreed that no one can beat theirs. But that is as per apa yang kami dah pernah rasa lah. Anyone else might got different views.

So today we got our chances and went again after few years back, arrived around 2pm, but the cakes just not there. Just at this particular branch. Even theres only two slice of burnt cheesecake left in the whole big display. Summore, i purposely booked a stay nearby just to make sure our trips to kin easier hahah

In addition, me and my wife ordered the same dish as per our last visit, roasted duck rice bowl and carbonara with duck bacon. All good. Just like old times. But our son beef fried rice, lower parts of the rice kinda soggy and too oily. I can't really tell wether sesame oil or tiram oil that is in excess. Other than that is good and delici

I dunno why im writing this and kinda feel bad but we went south with hundreds kilometre of driving just to reminiscing our memories back and its just heartbreaking hahah
