OLDTOWN White Coffee @ Kota Laksamana 2 — Restaurant in Malacca

I am not gleefully writing this review, but it simply has to be done as people should be aware of what I am going to disclose.

I have been using the cafe (everything good until now) for around 10 days as my work hub, almost every day. I felt comfortable having become a regular.

I went in today and asked whether there was a surau (prayer space), seeing as the place is fully halal and run by Muslims (the owner and all staff, by admission of one of the latter).

I was told there was no room, which is understandable. I then asked whether I could quietly pray in a corner (there were no other customers).

To my shock, the hijabi sisters said they would need to call their 'Muslim' boss to ask whether this was OK! Can you believe it?

I waited and after a few more minutes of fidgeting around, I was told by the sisters that this was unfortunately not possible and I would have to go the local mosque... which is around a 7 minutes drive away (and I informed the staff I do not have a car).

I advised the sisters I would pray outside on the road. No reaction or empathy from them. I left the café, very disappointed and dismayed and still somewhat in disbelief. What sort of Muslims are these?

Even in the UK, and other non-Muslim countries, one gets better faciilities and service than this, especially when it comes to one's beliefs and religious practices.

Disrespectful, petty and crazy behaviour is the way I can describe this depressing experience. I will NEVER go to this place again.

Luckily, I found a Chinese Muslim restaurant nearby who have a surau and even gave me free tea. That's what you call service.

There are plenty of other cafés nearby so I will use...

I recently visited Oldtown White Coffee at Kota Laksamana and left with mixed feelings. The food, while decent, wasn’t anything to rave about. The menu featured standard dishes, well-prepared but without much creativity. The flavors were solid, but if you’re seeking something extraordinary or experimental, this may not be the spot.

However, what the restaurant lacks in culinary innovation, it more than makes up for with its impeccable service and enchanting atmosphere. The staff were incredibly attentive, going above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and well-cared for throughout the evening. From the warm greeting at the entrance to the seamless handling of requests, it felt like dining in a place where hospitality truly matters.

The ambiance was another highlight. The space was tastefully decorated with soft lighting, elegant furnishings, and cozy seating, creating an inviting and relaxed vibe. It’s the perfect spot for a leisurely dinner, whether for a date night or a casual catch-up with friends.

In summary, if you’re looking for a place that excels in service and atmosphere, OLDTOWN Coffee is worth a visit. While the food might not blow you away, the overall experience makes it a pleasant...

Tidak memberi buka menu yg ada set … Portion tidak sama seperti gambar dan outlet lain… Sangat tidak berbaloi, outlet ni paling terok sekali sy rasa hidangkan makanan seperti nak bagi bdk yg baru nk belajar makan 😪 ada seorg staff C sangat rude bg sy, bg penerangan dkt cust sebelah sy secara berjauhan dan tejerit-ii sampai ke dapur … sy tidak berpuas hati dgn portion sy dan suasana dia melayan cust seperti dia pulak yg punya outlet 😤 sy sertakan gambar dalam menu yg patot sy dpt dan gambar yg sy dapat tadi, portion yg sy dapat hnya senipis isi ayam sekeping dan kulit ayam! Kalau sy pergi outlet lain mesti akan di hidangkan seperti dlm catlog menu.. pd mulanya sy nam cmpln dulu tpi cust sebelah sy dah cmpln dulu eh dia boleh ckp dgn cut tu kekuat ckp kita ikot sop, siap jerit kat cust sy call mnger kejap tanya, dan ckp jerit jerit smpai dpur seolah olah perli cust tu… cust tu tidak mkan bayar dan terus bla sebab, staff memalukan dia dgn ckp kekuat 😪 first n last tak masuk dah kat sini! Sy pergi outlet pahang pon akan dpt portion sprti dalam gambar.. sy tidak puas hati ayam bbq atas mee tu adoi lah ssh nak ckp!
