Our Christmas dinner, we took here. We had expected it to be very crowded but it is much more acceptable than we were prepared for. Prices are reasonable. Obviously higher than elsewhere but compared to prices in Genting, this place is moderate. We ordered (souped) Kuay Teow. It is like Hor Fun. Tasty, freshly cooked, appetizing. And we ordered Chendol. Their Chendol is a must try. Absolutely yummy, creamy, filling. You can distinctly taste gula maleka, coconut milk and the green jelly pieces. I read some reviewers were upset about crowds. But Genting Highlands itself is forever crowded and that is epic about it. If you dislike crowd, Genting is not a place for you. In fact, in Singapore, most malls and food courts would be super crowded. And if it is on Christmas day, we must be very patient with the crowds. Here, it is a lot more acceptable. Malaysian Food Street is on the 4th floor. If you are walking from First World Hotel, you will need to take escalators after escalators. Just enjoy the attractions along the way. Just next to the Malaysian Food Street is Jom Makan Street Food, which also has authentic Malay food but it is a little pricier, and smaller. Food variety is wider at Malaysian...
Read moreThis is totally not a recommended food joint, firstly the food here are way overpriced!
Their so called Klang Bak Kut Teh tasted like soy sauce soup for RM33 a small pot. The so called Hokkien mee is bland and tasteless.
Topping up another good reason not to visit this food joint is, despite the overpriced food and drink, everything is self service, you have to keep your own utensils after paying such a high price for the so-so food?
In the food industry, you have to be unique in some ways, but not this food joint. They asked you to pay for their overpriced hawker styled food, self service in everything, and their service crews attitude are bad, totally not service oriented, not at least a smile in service and entertainment industry, but a “robotic” face.
Lastly, saving earth by reducing straw usage “No Straw” campaign, a complete contradiction, which you will see they use plastic cups to serve all their cold drinks and fruits, but claim to save earth by not giving plastic straw to customers. Well, may I suggest a paper cup and paper straw? Solution is more important than restriction and making contradiction.
This is a no. 1 NOT TO GO in my list...
Read moreExpensive street food lol But it's Genting. Food are more expensive here because the food took cable car up.
Great deco and ambience. Love the "ah long" loan shark stickers on the pillars. 100% accurate feel of Malaysia.
Love that they gather the famous food all over Malaysia and have it here. So tourists that just visit Genting will not miss out the great food all over Malaysia.
From Melaka's cendol, Ipoh's Chicken rice, Sarawak's kolo mee, Kajang's satay....they have it all.
We had Curry Fish head. Not the best, but is good for a cold weather in Genting. Happy tummy!
Tips: be Genting's member you will get cheaper food in Genting.
Giving it a 3 stars because I wish the price should reflect real street food price in Malaysia. Don't agree on the theory that the food should be more expensive because we are on top of a hill. What year are we living in now? If you can have affordable hotels so everyone can go Genting, you should also have affordable food for...
