Just before arriving at Teluk Cempedak, you’ll not miss Restoran Hoi Yin, standing as a beacon for early risers seeking a delectable start to their day. This cosy eatery may not boast grandeur in size, but it compensates with an abundance of warmth and a symphony of flavors that resonate with the soul of Malaysia. As the morning starts, people start flocking to this culinary haven, eager to indulge in its famed offering—a bowl of spicy curry laksa that awakens the senses. The broth, a harmonious blend of spices, is neither too thick nor too thin, striking a perfect balance that leaves taste buds yearning for more. Accompanied by succulent seeds ham (cockles) and spongy taufu pok, each spoonful is a testament to the restaurant’s unwavering commitment to quality. The allure of Restoran Hoi Yin extends beyond its food. The owners, with their genuine smiles and heartfelt apologies amidst the breakfast rush, embody the spirit of Malaysian hospitality. It’s a place where diversity thrives, reflected in the mosaic of diners from all walks of life—united under the roof of this humble establishment. As the inside of the shop may be a little warm, many choose to dine al fresco, basking in the gentle morning breeze. It’s a setting where the vibrancy of the town and the serenity of nature coalesce, offering a moment of tranquility before the day unfolds. In essence, Restoran Hoi Yin is more than just a stop for breakfast; it’s a celebration of Malaysian culture, served one bowl at a time. For those who have yet to experience its charm, a visit is not just recommended—it’s essential.

Wanted to go to Teluk Cempedak for a walk in the morning, I've decided to visit this rather famous curry noodle shop that I see online. The shop was proper busy when we reached it at almost 10am. We were quite lucky to spot an empty table rather quickly and seated ourselves, but it still took the waitress aunty quite a while to get to take our orders. From what I see, she was the only person that was in charge of taking order, arranging seating, managing the foreign workers and being the cashier. The food preparation also took a while. By the time we got our noodle, it was already 45 minutes since we arrived. I ordered the Chicken Curry Noodle Soup with added cockles, while my gf ordered Curry Noodle Soup with Fish balls. The chicken was very tender and juicy. However, the cockles were rather tiny, which was a slight disappointment. Alongside the noodle were fish cakes and tofu pok, standards in many curry noodle. The curry was indeed fragrant, and it is on the lighter side, and not very heavy in coconut milk. Personally, I'd prefer it to have a more creamy texture with stronger taste of coconut milk, but I enjoyed this very much nonetheless. Don't be fooled by its presentation - the portion was deceptively large, and I was completely filled after the meal. The price of the noodle was very affordable, and it was great choice for a late breakfast. I'd recommend giving this a try, and maybe if you can reach earlier than we did, it'd be less busy and have a shorter wait time.

No 1 must have food to have in Kuantan, Pahang recommended by most travellers and food hunters online and offline. This famous shop located nearby the landmark of Teluk Cempedak. Signature dishes of the curry noodle been recommended to me even by locals. Spoken to the owner and found out they are origin from Penang. Yes, I am a Penangite so I tasted the Penang style! You may choose from varies noodles, from yellow noodles, vermicelli rice noodles, flatten rice noodles, or mixture of them. You may have options to add in some cockles into your curry noodles or opt out. The traditional Penang style are with the cockles so I opted in. Some locals did recommended to try their plain soup noodles perhaps I would have a try in next trip. Car parking lots are available right in front of the shop or opposite the road prepared by local councils, so do remember to pay for the parking during Monday to Saturday day times (except on public holidays) to avoid getting summons. Dine in and take-aways are available. Dine in availability been reduced due to the COVID19 SOP. However, there are some sittings at the back of the shop if you go further into the shop. Locals are good in pointing you to have a sit inside. You may have a short walk less than 3 minutes to visit the beach of Teluk Cempedak after eating here. Give me a thumb up if you read this and if this comment helps you.
