VERY bad. Marketed as a more high-end kopitiam/ Malaysian cafe but honestly, horrible. I rarely write bad reviews but this place is appalling.
HALF the food items on the menu are unavailable. Some of them unstated. We had to wait for the waitress to scheme through our order chit to let us know both our meals were unavailable despite being available on menu.
We ordered the nasi lemak with fried chicken, butter kaya toast + half boiled eggs, chicken popcorn rice, iced honey lemon tea and an iced caramel latte.
The only 'goods' were the toast and half boiled eggs.
The nasi lemak looked like a cheap, airline meal that's served on a white luncheon platter.
The chicken popcorn rice had THREE miserable pieces of chicken popcorn in it. It was then dumped with a load of cheap cheese and a few pieces of brocoli.
The drinks are so-so. Our caramel latte arrived AFTER we had finished our meal.
The staff members weren't clear on what we were ordering. I'm Malaysian and though I spoke English, they treated me like an expat. Even then, I couldn't even muster a few words of English.
Save yourself some trouble and up your budget for a meal at somewhere more costly...
Read moreJust sharing this to make sure no other Singaporean tourist gets scammed like we did. This was hands down the worst breakfast spot weâve experienced in Malaysia so far.
There were broken eggs under the table that gave off a foul smell, and the rest of the café reeked of strong cleaning detergent. While the staff were somewhat helpful, they all seemed aloof and disinterested.
But the food was the real letdown. The breakfast sets were disappointing and hard to swallow. The mee siam was extremely dry and bland, the char kway teow had a strange taste, the nasi lemak was barely passable, the kaya toast was barely toasted, and all the teas and coffees, including the teh tarik, were diluted and lacked flavour.
We even asked for extra sambal just to try and make the food more palatable or mask the odd flavours, but even that didnât help. We still couldnât finish our meals.
All of us agreed this place deserves a review so others wonât leave as disappointed as we did. Itâs definitely a place we will not return to.
The only possible saving grace is the price point, so at least you wonât feel too bad spending on food you wonât...
Read moreThis is my 2nd write up for the visit I had today for breakfast 6 pax on 10th April. I had visited multiple times in my stays at Genting. Always ate at Richdad. But cannot notice the thinning crowd from my previous visit. The food cooked bee hoon , kueh teow was good but need consistent flavor. it varied day to day for my 5 days visit at Richdad. Even simple hard boiled eggs came with the yolk so hard boiled and solid pieces. The cleanliness of tables and chairs are wow factors a given but under tables and chairs had traces of black sauce that dirtied soiled clothes and hands upon seating. Even simple pepper container was filled with white sauce which spilled all over when trying to tip into eggs. This demonstrates a lack of discipline on the front service staff for their lackadaisical attitude. But the chefs had always prepared good food that is why we go to Richdad each time we visit Genting. Please have your dining area to be clean , tidy , pepper and sauce bottles wiped down for cleanliness and front service staff to ensure details like I mentioned are taken care of. Again Robert Ooi here... wanting you to grow...
