VERY bad. Marketed as a more high-end kopitiam/ Malaysian cafe but honestly, horrible. I rarely write bad reviews but this place is appalling. HALF the food items on the menu are unavailable. Some of them unstated. We had to wait for the waitress to scheme through our order chit to let us know both our meals were unavailable despite being available on menu. We ordered the nasi lemak with fried chicken, butter kaya toast + half boiled eggs, chicken popcorn rice, iced honey lemon tea and an iced caramel latte. The only 'goods' were the toast and half boiled eggs. The nasi lemak looked like a cheap, airline meal that's served on a white luncheon platter. The chicken popcorn rice had THREE miserable pieces of chicken popcorn in it. It was then dumped with a load of cheap cheese and a few pieces of brocoli. The drinks are so-so. Our caramel latte arrived AFTER we had finished our meal. The staff members weren't clear on what we were ordering. I'm Malaysian and though I spoke English, they treated me like an expat. Even then, I couldn't even muster a few words of English. Save yourself some trouble and up your budget for a meal at somewhere more costly but worth it.

Waiting time for just ONE plate of food to be served was way over 30 mins. A bottle of mineral water took over 20 mins and the tea that comes in a set meal which took 5-6 reminders for it to be finally served nearly at the end of our meal. The water is bottled and literally right over the counter, yet the waiters kept going back and forth wiping plates and utensils BY THE COUNTER. Other tables that came before & after us also got up to complain at the cashier, to no avail. RM17 for a horrifyingly bland Chicken Fried Rice (first photo). The rest of the food were decent but the Popcorn Chicken Pasta's sauce was slightly strange, sort of had a hint of thousand island sauce mixed into it, which didn't really go well with the cheese, in my opinion. It may be a little harsh, but the fastest and most efficiently completed task were directing new customers queuing outside to their tables. Disappointing service, overall.

This is one of the more affordable cafe to eat at Genting Highland as compared to other eateries. Located near the old casino building, on the same level as KFC/MAC/MaryBrown. Staff are quite friendly. Quite spacious as the tables are not placed very close to each other. Ordered the 🍞 with Tuna Mayo Set, never expect to be a big portion. Tuna was spread generously on the whole bread topped with 🍅 and cucumber. Tasted OK to me. Teh Tarik served in a small cup, tasted more milky than tea. The eggs were a bit harder on the overall. Besides that, Stew Lamb was served on a mini bowl, looks good, smells good and tastes good. Can taste the freshness of the lamb, quite soft and tender without the smell. Quite a lot of meat chucks given, and the gravy was good to eat it with rice!

Just sharing this to make sure no other Singaporean tourist gets scammed like we did. This was hands down the worst breakfast spot we’ve experienced in Malaysia so far.

There were broken eggs under the table that gave off a foul smell, and the rest of the café reeked of strong cleaning detergent. While the staff were somewhat helpful, they all seemed aloof and disinterested.

But the food was the real letdown. The breakfast sets were disappointing and hard to swallow. The mee siam was extremely dry and bland, the char kway teow had a strange taste, the nasi lemak was barely passable, the kaya toast was barely toasted, and all the teas and coffees, including the teh tarik, were diluted and lacked flavour.

We even asked for extra sambal just to try and make the food more palatable or mask the odd flavours, but even that didn’t help. We still couldn’t finish our meals.

All of us agreed this place deserves a review so others won’t leave as disappointed as we did. It’s definitely a place we will not return to.

The only possible saving grace is the price point, so at least you won’t feel too bad spending on food you won’t...

This is my 2nd write up for the visit I had today for breakfast 6 pax on 10th April. I had visited multiple times in my stays at Genting. Always ate at Richdad. But cannot notice the thinning crowd from my previous visit. The food cooked bee hoon , kueh teow was good but need consistent flavor. it varied day to day for my 5 days visit at Richdad. Even simple hard boiled eggs came with the yolk so hard boiled and solid pieces. The cleanliness of tables and chairs are wow factors a given but under tables and chairs had traces of black sauce that dirtied soiled clothes and hands upon seating. Even simple pepper container was filled with white sauce which spilled all over when trying to tip into eggs. This demonstrates a lack of discipline on the front service staff for their lackadaisical attitude. But the chefs had always prepared good food that is why we go to Richdad each time we visit Genting. Please have your dining area to be clean , tidy , pepper and sauce bottles wiped down for cleanliness and front service staff to ensure details like I mentioned are taken care of. Again Robert Ooi here... wanting you to grow...
