James Foo Western Food @Icon City — Restaurant in Penang

Subpar western cuisine. Poor service. Pricey and just underwhelming.

Ambience is somewhat messy with a clash of interior designing. Making the dining experience somewhat irritating. TVs with nothing but still pictures displayed, showing either poor Internet connection or lack of entertainment providers. Fake vines on the wall just tend to drop while your eating. Constantly adding annoyance.

Service was somewhat poor with the lack of trained staff. Had to bring my order from the table to the counter by myself and no one actually cared to wait on us. No recommendations or table waiting given. Not even a simple gesture to inform us that the order needs to be written and brought over to the counter.

Food portions were just a mess. I've never seen a coleslaw made with just a few strands of carrot and cabbage which is not even a spoonful. Are vegetables really that expensive? Not to mention that the slaw has a somewhat sourish taste that is akin to turning bad? Chicken was fairly huge, battered and fried. Lacking proper seasoning thinking the sauce would have make up for the loss but yet it was just bland and unappetising. The sautéed mushrooms were for like burnt mushrooms? Dried, wrinkly and dark, with a bitter aftertaste.

Sacrificing quality...

I went with my son for our lunch , it was a bad experience since I have been going at bayan baru so I choose to go at icon city James Foo , my son ordered aloha burger it came with half cooked burger patty after 25minutes , and when I asked to recook again I be waiting for almost 30minutes the burger is not here and their outlet is not busy at all , few servers was there non of them attend my table to inform anything and after I go to counter to ask they been rushing go inside kitchen to check the food and I was looking for the superior no one is there until I ask the bill and the burger one server claim to be I’m the supervisor when I keep asking call it manager now , and she doesn’t even know how to speak English and I’ve been telling what happen in English she said I don’t knw and speak in Malay saying ‘daging burger u Tukar itu pasal lambat’ i told her eveything she be like don’t bother not even a sorry not even an explanation be giving me the bill to settle and I settle the bill left tht place non of them be coming to say sorry even the servers , my first time experience at icon city James Foo is the worst , 23/3/2018 ! I'd ordered a mix combo grill with black pepper sauce. It have lamb, need and a sausage. Despite the black pepper sauce is slightly mild taste and less spicy, it might tantalise you tounge. The lamb is well done cooked and the meat is tender enough. Although I requested the need to be medium rare, it ended up as well done too. It wasn't my liking but wasn't bad at all. The only thing that I detest is having the waitress watching me devouring my meal. My privacy is being breached. Anyway, I came here for the food, not for the waitress.
