22 Grill Restaurant is the new kid on the block located within Ipoh’s busiest commercial square, Greentown. Location is good as parking is conveniently available all around the vicinity. The restaurant ambiance is pleasantly cozy, modern and certainty not too crowded. Sets the right mood for an enjoyable dining experience
This new restaurant specializes in some regional Chinese cuisine and western grill. As it was our family’s first visit here, so we decided to try an array of dishes. Food presentation was good and the taste was absolutely delectable! We especially enjoyed the Taiwanese braised pork with rice and the melt-in-your-mouth A5 Miyazaki Wagyu rump
As always there’s room to improve for every new venture, we heard that they’re working on expanding their menu as well as to include wine in their range of beverages. As someone who has a sweet tooth, perhaps I’d recommend the proprietors to include some desserts as well
All in all we enjoyed our dinner and the restaurant passed our ultimate foodie litmus test…good taste, good value and good service. We would certainly return again and heartily recommend the restaurant to all other...
Read moreI love eating, trying new cuisines and exploring new food spots. This trip to Ipoh, my best friend insisted that I try out 22 Grill. It is a tantalising dance of flavours with every dish providing for a wonderfully gastronomic experience.
The highlights for me are the mixed wild mushroom soup with chicken and salted pork belly & vegetable rice.
The mushroom soup is boiled using 12 different types of mushrooms. The flavour profile of the broth is rich without being too overpowering. After you finish the first round of soup, the staff will proceed to refill the soup and add in the chicken. The meat is tender and best paired with the provided ginger scallion sauce.
The salted pork belly and veggies rice is absolutely delicious. The ingredients to rice ratio is just off the charts. I ate 2 full bowls of it and that's saying a lot from someone who is watching his carbs intake.
The ambience here is cosy and welcoming. Impeccable service from the staff. Most importantly, the place remained smoke free even though many tables are having the BBQ grill.
I have my sights locked on having the grilled wagyu beef and marinated pork belly the next...
Read moreWe went with 28 pax for a birthday event. Overall, the food is really good considering the affordable price point. Pros: The braised pork rice is definitely a must order. Mala mini octopus was really good, with the perfect amount of spice and fragrance. Shenyang salad is a palatable appetizer that is refreshing and helps kickstart your appetite. Cajun-marinated chicken is well-seasoned and juicy on the grill. The sea white prawns are very fresh. The Wagyu belly portion is very generous at a low price. Environment is extremely pleasant and comfortable, toilet is very well-kept (even comes with toilet bowl paper covers!) Service personnel are attentive and efficient.
Cons: Mala beef tripe is a little under-seasoned. Wagyu-garlic fried rice was a little anti-climactic. Lamb shoulder could be better seasoned. Perhaps it was overcrowded, the ventilation for the grills struggled to keep up, which made a few...
