**A Sweet Stop in Taiping ā Bismillah Cendol""
A trip to Taiping would feel incomplete without a refreshing stop at Bismillah Cendol. Tucked near the iconic St. Georgeās Institution, this humble stall has been serving locals and travelers alike since 1993. With more than three decades of heritage behind it, Bismillah has become more than just a spot for dessertāitās a Taiping institution in its own right.
What makes the experience memorable isn't just the cendol itselfāthough the silky green jelly, fragrant coconut milk, and thick, smoky gula Melaka are reason enough to come back. Itās also the array of snacks on offer: crispy fritters, savory bites, and pulut-rich variants that pair beautifully with the iced treat. Everything is served with the kind of warmth and care that feels like home.
In a rapidly modernizing town, itās places like Bismillah that hold onto the soul of Taipingās street food legacy. I truly hope the younger generation takes time to savor these gemsānot just for the taste, but for the stories and traditions they carry.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery satisfying meal of pasembor & refreshing cendol on a hot afternoon! Pasembor had a refined touch to it⦠delicately shredded timun & sengkuang unlike the coarse KL style Indian rojak. Even the goreng fritters must have been created with love. Such a light crunch as you bite into the softness & tasty too. Not oily. Savoury sweetness of gravy perfect. The best part was when I requested more veg, the plate was generously topped up with the shreds & banjir gravy šš FOC. Slurped it all up especially when I saw the loads of sesame seeds in gravy (usually itās crushed peanuts only?) Tqtq boss šš¼.
Cendol here santan -ny. I donāt taste Gula Melaka but itās so refreshing with subtle brown sugar sweetness. This must be Taiping style cendol recipe thanks to fresh santan supply available. Cendol noodles fine smooth, no artificial green.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreChendol is very nice here. One of the original stall in this town. The red beans are huge and savoury. Also there is pulut (glutinous rice) that can be added in the chendol, which is rare, unique and really nice. Freshly made chendol with hand squeezes coconut milk and authentic gula melaka is definitely a nice treat. A little sweet but it is ok as they are perfectly balance. There is a traditional laksa and pasembur stall which compliment the sweet chendol. A lot of local grew up eating this chendol stall and re-visiting will bring back fond memories. It is really nice to find food of childhood days still available in its original taste. A must have and must try if u pass...
