My dad went to this place and was greeted with disgusting services. He went there for 4 nights due to business. Everything was great until the last day where he met the morning counter service lady with disgusting tricks and behaviour.
My dad did the payment with her. He made sure the payment was done without any issues and left due to an emergency issue. When he later returned to the hotel, the lady demanded more money for the reason she said that she gave extra change just now.
My dad started arguing with her and said that it was her fault for not making sure with the payment and said that it was done. During the argument, she repeatedly used ENGLISH to insult my dad for his inability to speak ENGLISH and kept arguing with english.
My dad felt insulted and just wanted it to be over by paying more money. Just because he did the full payment, but was insulted with language that is not familiar with him.
He was ok with paying extra but not with what he experienced. The manager later came and tried helping with the situation by providing a full return for the room payment. My dad insisted on staying last night there and paid the extra money.
He didn't want anymore trouble as his luggage was still in the room and he didn't want to move to another hotel for this last night.
He did mention that aside from the service, everything is great. The bathroom however is a little bit small...

Read moreWell if you’re looking for part of Taiping history it is in-this hotel. Part of the Taiping heritage trail. An old world colonial hotel that was used as the HQ for the kempetai or Japanese security police during the occupation. There’s wooden floors and old fashioned ceiling fans. Some of the rooms have seen better days but hotel was undergoing renovation when I visited. The staff are friendly and helpful. It’s near the food market. There’s a pharmacy next door. Walk to the lake gardens if there’s no rain as this is the wettest town in Malaysia. And it’s a 15 to 20 minutes walk to train station where you can catch the train to Penang or KL. Don’t expect big city amenities but enjoy the small town feel of the historical colonial hotel that’s seen many a trader, wayfarer, soldier or security man & live like they did from time when things moved slower. However the WiFi here was faster than my mobile data so maybe there’s one or two minor changes. Also tv is available. They also sell water and some toiletries...
