Ambience. Was actually attracted by the look of the place, looked very modern and spacious from outside.
However once inside the decor a bit puzzling, what is the theme actually? Green moss and white decor, with unfinished ceiling and weird placement of seating. Some seats especially the wooden benches didn't look very comfortable.
F&B
Food portion was good, though the price was a bit on the high side.
Firstly drinks were quite good, enjoyed the pina colada very much.
Went at about 6 pm, but most food items were no longer on the menu so food choices quite limited. Not sure if they are finished or just unavailable.
Penang Kuey Teow was a let down, it arrived lukewarm, and the noodles were clumpy and stuck together. Taste was pretty bland, and not flavourful at all. Paid extra RM6 for extra cockles, but took almost 6 bites before could taste even one.
The worse was the keropok lekor. Although it was delicious and authentic, at RM15 for a few pieces was quite expensive. What took the cake was the fact that the sauce served was a tiny portion. When requested for a bit more sauce, was told they would have to charge me extra. How much I asked the waitress? RM2 for a bit more. Mind you, I am not asking for extra of their special sambal. Understand if asked to pay extra for that. Was just asking for extra sauce for keropok, sauce that they probably got out of a bottle. Sauce that the normal road side seller would give extra when asked. Orang jaja tepi jalan boleh bagi free je, tak perlu bayar extra. Was quite put off by that, maybe they should give a bit more sauce to begin with for a RM15 plate of keropok lekor, instead of just a touch.
The nasi lemak was nice, flavourful and filling.
Help staff
The first waiter, a younger woman was friendly and helpful.
But the second waiter I got, a slightly older lady was quite rude and unfriendly. Came over to my table to say they would charge me extra for cockles, I actually smiled and said yes and she just turned and walked away with no acknowledgement or telling me how much extra cost. It just showed up later in my bill, and under another item.
Same waiter was also very unprofessional. When she came to serve the food, my phone was on the table in front of me, and despite me telling her a few times that food was for my friend sitting across from me, she proceeded to just put the plate of food right on top of my phone! And she didn't say sorry or anything, just made an irritated sound 😒 and walked off. I had to move the plate myself off my phone and hand to my friend.
My advice, if serving customers professionally is too much work then quit. Go do something else that makes you less rude to people.
All in all, whilst the place has potential with their choices of menu and drinks, the overall staff and experience was a let down. And the extra charge for sos keropok? Very off putting. Would I go again? If the unprofessional waitress is not there, and a bit more keropok sauce, maybe....
Read moreMy family and I enjoyed the food here. My dad, especially loved their Signature Nasi Lemak! I myself thought their Nasi Lemak was good - the rice was fluffy, good tasting thick sambal and just really enjoyable to eat. We also ordered their noodles (pretty good), chicken & waffles (decent) & parmesan fries (good for sharing).
The pricing of the food is reasonable, below RM20 (for local fare) which I think is cheap for a mall in Klang Valley. However, they balance it with overpriced beverages - we opted for a bottle of water that costs RM5 instead. I still think the pricing is fair - our total was RM100++ for four main meals and a snack. Not bad.
However, the service feels a little stand-offish especially when the tall skinny guy behind the counter defensively said “Sorry, I only accept QR or card for payment!” when I was taking out RM50 notes from my wallet. His arrogant tone really startled me and made me feel quite insulted “What, print money has no value?!” It was quite an unpleasant ending to an otherwise enjoyable lunch, and made me feel like I didn’t want to return to this standoffish restaurant.
I came to this restaurant because I was made to believe that it is Muslim-owned, but seeing the extensive CNY decorations with Chinese characters, and a “patung” at the counter made me doubt whether this restaurant is truly Malay/Muslim owned. I can see that their staff are Malays, though I’m getting Chinese-partnership vibes in the restaurant.
Also, please provide physical menus. You want us to order via QR, fine. But you’re a new restaurant - a physical menu...
Read moreUpon walking in, one can tell the amount of investment poured into this establishment. They definitely did a good job with the interior design, something most shoppers in the Curve would agree that such a hipster cafe could exist in a place like...the Curve. (You can already tell that I'm a diehard fan of OneU 😂)
They're really proud of their sambal. Something my wife and I appreciate as to add another dimension to your culinary experience. You're given the choice to choose 2 types of local sambal out a few given, which not to mention, does a great job in educating Malaysians more on a condiment we consume so often.
Food was fun to explore, which includes their desserts as well. Many cafes tend to get a little lazy with their desserts, often serving 3rd party cakes which are stale and overpriced but thankfully, they're not one of them.
Service was decent but definitely there's room for improvement. Attentiveness is one aspect they can look into.
But man, you gotta be prepared to burn a little hole in your wallet. Don't get me wrong, it is pretty normal to pay RM100+ for a meal for two nowadays at any cafes, so just...
