Superb, (halal certified )first time experience and impression!😁👍 Im not gonna lie to u. From outside, this place may look a little bit uninviting due to its black n dark interior. During daytime, u wont be able to see much inside. Hence why we waited a few months after its opening to see its " survival rate"😛🙏.
We decided to give a try tonite. We are frequent patrons for grill / steamboat restaurants like Zao Chuan downstairs ( now closed indefinitely 🥺) and even Pak John. This is our first time trying Dae Ga. That word means "Master" in korean. Ie the shop is an expert in premium meat serving.
Dressed normally in t shirts and flip flops ( nothing glamorous) as we always do, we went in,not knowing what to expect.😁
To our suprise, a pleasant lady greeted us with the warmest of smiles and ushered us to a table. Her name is Mona. Young lady with mix filipino, malay, chinese blood ethnicity.😁👍 Regardless of how we dress, that first impression we got from this restaurant is meaningful.🥰
So we ordered rib eye etc, later u see the receipt ya. The major difference with this restaurant compared to the other restaurants mentioned is, they will grill all the chicken n beef for u! Huwah!😁🥰 So,you wont waste time trying to learn how to grill the prime beef / chicken or even waste the beef by overcooking.👍🥰
Tonite i even tasted for the first time, Kimchi. I know of kimchi since forever but all this while it just looks too " fermented" for me to eat 🤣🙏. But Mona told us, the kimchi in this restaurant is always made individually/ specially by the chef. Upon tasting it, it turned out, i luv its taste! Its like soft kobis with flavour.😁
We also ordered the korean pancake. It appears like malaysian cucur udang but with a slight different pleasant taste. Its not chunky but more flat and easy to eat. We finished it in 15 min. 😁
Service was reasonably fast and the waitress who helped us grill the meat/ chicken was pleasant and skilful. Kudos to the owner!😁
Don't worry about the price when u see our receipt😁. The meat/ chicken package is quite reasonable. Its just because we are normally hungry big eaters, so we would order more.😛😁
Lastly, you guys living nearby or within K.valley should try this eatery. Its not widely popular yet but with this awesome service and delicious food, it should gain popularity any time soon. I did a special video for the restaurant and there's a nice Korean song,so unmute the sound...
Read moreDae Ga Korean Grill and BBQ is a delightful gem that offers an unforgettable dining experience, from the moment you step inside. The cozy and stylish ambiance, with its perfect blend of modern elegance and traditional Korean elements, immediately sets the tone for an enjoyable meal. Soft lighting and comfortable seating make the atmosphere inviting and intimate, whether you're dining with friends, family, or on a special night out.
The food at Dae Ga is nothing short of spectacular. The marinated beef sirloin is exquisite, tender, and perfectly balanced with sweet and savory flavors, melting in your mouth with every bite. The lateral cut marinated beef short rib is equally impressive, with a smoky char on the outside and juicy, rich flavors inside. Our attendant, Mona, made the experience even more special with her attentive and cheerful service. She expertly handled the grill, ensuring the meats were cooked to perfection, enhancing the overall experience.
The side dishes were just as memorable. The seafood pancake (Haemul Pajeon) was generously filled with fresh seafood, offering a crispy exterior and soft, savory interior—perfect for sharing. The stir-fried Korean glass noodles (Jabchae) were bursting with flavor, with a perfect balance of sweet and savory notes, and the portion was more than enough to satisfy. The Peach Kombucha added a refreshing, fizzy finish to the meal, providing a perfect complement to the rich dishes.
The fresh kimchi and onions with vinegar rounded out the meal, offering sharp, tangy flavors that perfectly balanced the richness of the meats. With a warm, inviting atmosphere, incredible food, and impeccable service, Dae Ga Korean Grill and BBQ is highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and memorable...
Read moreWe came to try their Ramadan buffet but it was quite lackluster for the price, especially since there wasn't much choices of food. Sat on the outside seating and all I could smell was smoke.
The bbq meats the served were the best part of it as you can see them making it on the spot and all 3 meats, which were chicken, beef and lamb, tasted really good. My wife especially loved the lamb. The beef was a bit sweet so to those who liked that, they'd enjoy it a lot. None of the bbq meats were overcooked.
Besides the bbq though, there wasn't much else that they offered which tasted nice. The seaweed beef soup, their pajeons, jaochae, and kimchi fried rice were just OK.
I'd say the advertising of the buffet was a little dodgy too. The video made by them did not really show exactly what was offered and I bet most people would think there was more to offer.
Particularly the video made by a foodie 'influencer' which was also reposted on Daega's insta. It showed a lot of food which sadly, was mostly not part of the buffet spread. A little misleading as they made a small remark that Daega has buffet at the end of the video which can make people think the food that they showed in the video would be in the buffet.
If not for the slightly misleading advertising, I would have enjoyed the food with less expectations. 89 bucks for a spread with probably less than 20 items (if you don't include the drinks which were decent) I'm not sure whether it was something I'd like to experience again. At least my wife, who doesn't really eat buffets too...
