Nyonya Cendol • Paradigm Mall — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

The food at this restaurant is quite fair, with a charming Peranakan-style ambiance. I had Nonya style Ikan Kembung, Ayam Goreng Berempah, Rendang and cendol, which were alright. However, my dining experience was significantly marred by the behavior of one of the staff members. While I prefer not to name him, I feel it’s important to share my experience.

This particular staff member, a local man who wears glasses, displayed a consistently unwelcoming and condescending attitude. On multiple occasions, including this visit, I witnessed stern language, unpleasant gestures, and an overall lack of empathy while he was tabling. It’s disheartening to feel unwelcome in a place that otherwise has so much to offer.

I truly believe that everyone deserves respect, and it’s unfortunate when someone’s demeanor negatively impacts the dining experience. If you are not able to serve people like a human, better not serve at all. I hope the management takes note of this, as it could greatly improve the overall experience for future guests. I’d advise others to be mindful towards that particular man, as it has occurred during most of my visits here. All the best guys and I hope one day that particular guy would be kinder to the customers...

I had an easy pickup process, and the Penang curry mee is fantastic—I can vouch for it being a true taste of home! I’ll definitely be ordering other items soon. I also tried the Penang prawn mee, which was fairly good, and the laksa. However, I ordered my laksa with extra noodles today, but they didn’t include them. I was starving since I hadn’t eaten since last night, so I had to complain to Foodpanda about it. Overall, the laksa was just okay—not the best version, of course, since I'm from Penang. Additionally, I found the takeaway drinks to be a bit small for the price. I really wish they would upsize the cup; it’s just too small, honestly.

malay staff with glasses has really bad service… walked in and was immediately greeted with terrible service. we had our order sheet ready so we wanted to order. after several attempts of calling the staff and constantly getting ignored by him who obviously heard us (we were a table away from him), he looked back at my aunt, looked infront then looked at my aunt again saying “ya ya wait, wait”. later on my aunt tried to ask him for an extra bowl, but he walked off mid sentence, then when he overheard her telling me to ask him (because she thought he didn’t hear her) for an extra bowl, he turned around condescendingly and said “ya ya nanti i bagi” all with an attitude 👍👍👍 thought it was a one time thing, maybe he was having a bad day but seems like other reviewers with bad experiences are complaining about the same guy so 🤣🤣 first and...
