My experience in Para Thai was bad from start to finish.
Firstly, we were not greeted upon entry and had to wait to be seated. The waiter signed for 2 people instead of asking. When we were trying to order, there was an obvious lack of floor staff as it took a while to manage to get the attention of any of them. The waiter that took our order seemed unhappy and rushed our order which actually resulted in us not even managing to order one of the dishes we wanted.
While waiting for the food, i noticed there were a few staff (im assuming on their breaks) sat at some of the empty tables watching videos on their phones rather loudly. The ambiance of the whole restaurant seemed bleak, as if none of the staff wanted to even be there. Which is something i really think should be looked into. When the food did arrive, not once did the waiters say anything to us.
Regarding the food, i cannot express how disappointed i was with the portion sizes as well as the quality of the food. The kai lan with salted fish that costed around 20 something ringgit and was the smallest portion out of all of pur dishes with very few pieces of fish. The green curry had very few chicken pieces and mostly just curry. We realized the food was not going to be enough and decided to go ahead and order the tom yum we had not managed to order initally due to the waiters sour mood.
When the tom yum came, we were once again very disappointed. Ive dined in thai restaurants many times and love ordering tom yum. It usually comes with many condiments. This tom yum however priced at RM29, came with just a few chicken pieces and mushrooms. Additionally the tom yum came Lukewarm despite me ordering the firepot tomyum which should have arrived at our table piping hot with a fire underneath. We had to ask the staff to put the fire on, which also was not helpful as the fire died out before the tomyum got heated up properly. The tomyum, which according to the menu had 5 chillies to indicate its spice level, was very sweet and not spicy.
Finally, when i had gotten up to pay, i once again was motioned to look at the price. Not a word from any of the staff.
Overall, i had not been spoken to by the staff the whole time i was there which made the experience unwelcoming and awkward. The staff watching videos loudly while sat near us made us feel uncomfortable. The sparing portion sizes made me feel like i was getting robbed. The lack of authenticity in the flavour of the food made me disappointed as i was looking forward to a good thai meal. I cannot see myself ever setting foot in this establishment again. I hope to see some improvement for the sake of your future customers who unknowingly visit this establishment.
Also dont be fooled by the 5 star reviews, i managed to catch a glimpse of a table stand menu on our table asking customers to give them 5 star reviews in exchange for...
Read moreUnfortunately, the service and food quality did not meet my expectations, and I feel compelled to share my concerns.
Firstly, I specifically requested my food to be served at a particular time, yet it was not followed. As a result, by the time I intended to eat, the food was already cold. It was evident that my request was ignored, which greatly impacted my dining experience. It became clear to me that it is the manager’s decision to serve my food earlier than requested contributed to it being cold and diminished my overall dining experience.
Additionally, the omelette I ordered was highly unsatisfactory. It was tasteless, overly oily, and chewy—almost as if I was eating plastic dipped in oil. The minced chicken and prawn inside were barely visible, making it feels like an extremely poor-value dish. Frankly, I could have gotten a much better omelette at a local mamak stall for a fraction of the price.
To make matters worse, I was the one who realized that my dessert had not been served while I was preparing to leave. Since the food was paid before we even ate, there was no excuse for it to be missed. The waiter should have ensured that all orders were delivered, yet it was only served after I pointed it out. This lack of attention to detail is unacceptable for a restaurant that aims to provide good service.
Lastly, the poor service, disregard for customer requests, and subpar food quality left me deeply dissatisfied. I would like to emphasize that offering me a monetary voucher will not heal this poor dining experience. If you truly want to sustain yourself in the food industry, your focus should be on genuine improvement rather than handing out vouchers as a way to make customers feel better. That approach does not work for me.
I hope your management takes this feedback seriously and implements real changes to ensure better customer experiences...
Read moreWent there on 27th Jan (midday 2-4pm), recently. I know that it’s not gonna be cheap, but then I was hoping that the service, atmosphere and food would make it worthy.
I was wrong. We went to read the menu on the stand outside for a good 2-3mins, saw some of the service members looking out and another just when for a break maybe, but no one invited us in although it was in the sign outside “please wait to be seated”. I reckon it was because we were not dressed elegantly. We sat in the outside seating area for a moment but no one seems to care either. I opened the door and the person who saw us just had a glance when I asked if the restaurant is open while the rest of the team was busy at the counter looking at numbers and another having their break at a table next to it. From that moment, i was not expecting that the experience would be nice anymore. We also had some trouble understanding that there’s two options for green tea too. The server was explaining there’s one without sugar but i guess the thai accent wasn’t easy for me which is down to me and my fault for just saying green tea while expecting a thai green tea.
Food was ready very fast, which could be down to the lack of customers during that hour on a Saturday and pretty good too but pricey. Nice job on the cook.
Two white rice, seafood tom yum, stir fried beef, thai green tea, and water totalling to RM100+
Overall I might come back again in the future to order more from the menu and try some desserts there too. Wanted to rate the atmosphere higher but the unwelcoming service makes the place...
