I usually will recommend places that I have frequented for my meals be it lunch or dinner. However this is the first time I am giving lesser than my average good rating. Unfortunately, the floor manager/supervisor is lacking good customer service and empathy skills. I have given him few chances as we frequent here quite often, subject to my 80+ years old mother-in-law preference for dinner of the day. We have given him chance again and again but today i have reached my limit. When we asked for table for 2 pax inside please, he immediately said it is full now, only outside is available. I even told him my mother-in-law has commented that it is rather hot for her to be seated outside so if he can be so kind to arrange for us to be inside, the airconditioned area, he just said it's dinner time and it's full inside. I cant stand his lack of empathy for elderly and voiced out myself, what about those seats? The ones by the sushi counter. It is empty. He then said ok and allowed us in, and had other staff to seat us. He really have attitude problem, i am sorry to say this. He really have to buckle up lest he will continue to offend customers. The rest of the staff are great though. Very polite, courteous and attentive. 5 stars for...
Read moreI'm a long time fan of Sushi Zanmai in general. Today I ordered an Oyako Don for take away. Upon eating at home, the whole bowl of food was so SALTY it felt like I was ingesting salt with rice. I had to throw it away because I couldn't finish it. It was totally inedible. I couldn't complain as I'm not eating directly in the outlet. Unfortunately, the quality is really unacceptable...
EDIT: Sushi Zanmai called me back to give me a new one the next day after my complaint. Kudos to them for taking complaints seriously. The next meal tasted normal. Thank you and +3stars
Update 2025: Had an annoying dinner night picking off endless onion stripe from my favorite zanmai Oyako Don, even after I repeated NO ONION twice when ordering. Dropped them a message to let them know, so that hopefully it won’t happen again cause I plan to order from them again regardless. But I can’t believe they actually had a guy called me to apologize after the operating hours and offering to compensate. Impressed with the service going out of their way, so +1...
Read morePlease train your staff to lift, not drag or slide, the chairs when tucking them back under the tables. The screeching noise was extremely unpleasant, and this happened multiple times, not just once.
As for the green tea: if you’re going to pre-pour, please don’t serve a half cup. Either serve a full cup or don’t pour it at all, especially since you’re providing a whole jug anyway.
When I raised the issue about the chair dragging with the person at the front counter, who I believe was the manager. He didn’t seem particularly concerned. I even offered to point out which staff member it was, but he simply said “it’s okay” and mumbled something else I couldn’t make out.
If you choose to be in the service industry, please do so with proper manners and courtesy. Basic attentiveness...
